Not sure if this can be stickied or not or whether there is something like this already posted, but...

For those confused about TPM/Firmware TPM (fTPM) and whether one needs to purchase a TPM module or not for Windows 11, I found this video that does a good job of explaining things.

For the most part if one has a motherboard/PC that's less than 10 years old with a UEFI BIOS, you most likely (99.9%) already have fTPM and thus do NOT need to purchase a separate TPM module.

You can also check if your system has TPM via this tutorial - Verify Trusted Platform Module (TPM) Chip on Windows PC. Be aware however that if you don't see any TPM info that doesn't necessarily mean you don't have it, it could be the setting is disabled in the BIOS. In that case you'd need to go into the BIOS and enable it (firmware TPM).

Bottom line - if you already have fTPM, there's no need to purchase a discrete TPM module since fTPM already satisfies Windows 11's TPM requirements.

Hope this helps :)

    This is my backup system.
My motherboard supports fTPM which was disabled by default. Once I enabled it in the BIOS I was able to install Windows 11 without any issues.
