What is your favorite email client and why?


I use Thunderbird along with my own domain name so my emails are on my computer and also in the cloud.
The combination works well and no spam.
I also use Mailwasher

On Windows I use Thunderbird. It is a quality community project, works well with gmail IMAP back-end, is simple to use and provides all I need. For Ios and MacOS, I use the native email client, which is OK. They both IMAP from google mail.

First test drive with the Proton Mail App..., little less than thrilled, to be honest! 🤷‍♂️
Appears to be more than just an Electron App in a web frame, but, it needs work.
They've put a lot of careful thought into it, although, I prefer the PWA for now, there appears to be far more options in the PWA.
Time will tell.

The UI is very clean and polished though, well laid out...

The responses have been helpful but I still cannot get Thunderbird working properly after many years of use and I have just discovered that OUTLOOK's online version seems to only allow one additional email address and Microsoft use confusing terms like alternative email address rather than additional - I think my different Microsoft accounts have different alternative/additional emails addresses link - and I am trying to pick my way through them.

Yesterday I accessed my Outlook online emails for my main Microsoft account (the one I use for OneDrive) and discovered an In Box for that shall we say, supplementary (Hotmail) email address had thousands of emails lurking which I accessed via my Surface Go2 Device - I cleared them all out but was surprised that the more recent emails to that address did not show,

I have this morning checked the same email account via Thundbird on my main Desktop PC - also with Windows 11 and the in box is continuing to receive emails up to this morning.

This for me then is a work in progress - I am not yet sure where it will end or even exactly where I am travelling - as it were!

@Edwin What email client would you recommend that handles EAS protocol and also multiple clients ?
Clean not filled with junk and easy to use (and free if possible).

I can't believe that MS doesn't support company 365 accounts that use EAS. :eyeroll:

I wouldn't really have a clue! I've never even gotten close to Exchange Services!

Stopped using offline mail clients in about 2004. Having a local copy really is a thing of the past. I don't see any benefit. I keep all my email in gmail and I can access it from my laptop, my phone, and when I buy a new computer (every 2 years or so) it's simply there after a quick login in the browser. Same goes for using sync in the browser, all the bookmarks and passwords are there too. I admit, I do a regular monthly download of my google data (gmail, drive, etc) but I've never used it for anything, it's just nice having that extra backup.

    Also an m4 Mac Mini for work dev stuff that I operate remotely via HelpWire.
I tested Proton Mail Free for several weeks. I agree with @Edwin that it still lacks some features, like even being able to add a Profile photo. That said, I am impressed with the software, so I purchased a two-year subscription for the "Proton Mail Plus" package. The software was launched in 2013, so it will improve.

I like having secure end-to-end encryption email capability for other Proton Mail clients. It also offers a "password protected" email option for non-Proton email clients.

It is certainly worth a look, IMHO.

I use Thunderbird rd on my desktop and laptop which I only use for vacations

When going on vacation I copy the Thunderbird folder from the roaming folder
and replace the one on the laptop. I then install the latest Thunderbird as adminstrator
on the laptop. This give me a "clone" of my Thunderbird. I do the same for
Firefox

For reasons I do not understand I cannot get pop email when travelling to Mexico and
South Africa recently
