What is your favorite email client and why?


It's STILL Outlook for Windows - unmoved despite the improvements in the alternatives - including outlook.com. I said it when I moved to it and it is is stlll reliable like the rain. (If anything - more reliable.)

After running and testing so many local clients like Thunderbird, The Bat, Mailbird (wanted to charge me again for new major version wtf), Outlook and uh, don't remember what else, I now stick to BlueMail. It works fine, comes with all features I need and is lightweight. So far it's my preference.

Most all of these email clients charge if you want anything more than the (often lacking) basic features.
One of them only has an allowance for 1 account unless you pay (I forget which, I have tested so many)

I am happy with the (free) Mail or Outlook apps and I am certainly happy with Outlook from Office 2021.
I also use the Windows Outlook Apps. When the New Outlook (app) starts supporting POP3/PST files, I’ll happily switch.
Why pay?

@Edwin Question....Are you saying that you upped $400 in the past for this lifetime license and now Mailbird is essentially "going out of business" and no longer supporting it? Or are you saying you had to pay this money recently in order to stay with a version of Mailbird that will continue to be supported?

Well lifetime version lasted since 2015 to 2024, at the current price $20 per year, that would be $180 overall. I imagine it was not $400 in the beginning though. They offer lifetime version 3 for $100 at the moment. It sounds a like a good deal, for a decade.

In a nutshell:
I've been with Mailbird since it's inception in 2013 and acquired a Pro Business License shortly thereafter.
In the past 18 months, they've completely revamped their business model, from Version 2 to Version 3, as strictly subscription based, and they are not honoring previous Lifetime licenses!
Just search Mailbird on the BBB site, it's all over the place!
I'm surprised a class action hasn't been filed against them!

All it takes is one. Get yourself a good class action attorney and start one yourself. Don't those attorneys take on such cases for a cut of the settlement? If nothing else, the bad press of deceptive business practices would cost Mailbird.

I did some preliminary research into it, but, I have neither the time nor the patience to go to war with them again!
I'm just going to keep a really close eye on the application, in generic mode, for functionality and security holes and take the necessary steps from there.
eM Client is now my current go-to.
