Since switching on my PC today, the widgets dialog has been having issues, it will open but then the entire widgets screen freezes, and I cannot click on anything. Then if I go back the widget screen is blank. I have uninstalled the web experience pack, and reinstalled, same issue. Is there any way to remove all the Microsoft default widgets from the widget screen, i.e. like a reset? I have also noticed excessive CPU usage on the widgets exe in Task Manager

Save your sanity! I removed drivers with DDU. Tried 6 different GPU drivers, clicking the taskbar opens a window for me but it's unclickable with most apps greyed out, widgets shows around 10% CPU in task manager, can't log out because it's unclickable.
Also tried repairing Edge, Webview 2 runtime. DISM and SFC no faults.
after 4 hours lol I disabled the piece of junk from GPedit as the CP use remains even if widgets is turned off in settings.
Literally tried every fix on Google up to and including page 5.

I'll watch this with interest as I miss my weather warnings.

Hurry up with Windows 12 please Microsoft

Are the Widgets constant syncing with Microsoft? If so they might be have server issues?

I also notice the high CPU usage

there's lots of cpu cycles, I too tried everything and nothing has updated lately?
I tried repairing / resetting all my apps I added like photos and weather but can't even click anything, it's the apps that are grey the news feed seemed ok, I disabled it for now.

I've had the same problem all day; when I try to reinstall the web experience pack via PowerShell i do get a server error...so you might be right about this being an MS server issue.

I did it with gpedit but I don't think that's on home.
Turning mine off by taskbar setting didn't stop the CPU activity.
Gpedit. Computer config, components, widgets and allow no. (I think) greys out the option to turn it on in taskbar setting there still widgets service running but the exe, and CPU stops completely.

At least I am not thew only one, but pc is driving me mad now and it's the long weekend as well.

The gpedit fix worked for me, disabled, rebooted, re enabled, all seems fine again. Really strange

yeah, worked for me too. I did try this yesterday.
I didn't reboot just changed gpedit to not configured and it came on after a few minutes.

I don't have gpedit, but I killed the process this morning and when it started again, everything looked okay. The issue seems to be fixed at the source, but if you're not seeing improvements, it looks like stopping/starting the widgets by whatever means you can seems to work.
