My Win11 Pro desktop system suddenly became unable to connect to the internet.. This happened after I powered down from a normal online session and then powered back on several hours later. The system is up to date and recently passed an SFC run with no problems. Things I've tried with no luck:
1. Verified that my router was OK and allowed my Win11 Home laptop to connect OK using both WiFi and Ethernet cable
2. Switched Ethernet cable from laptop to desktop - no help
3. Switched desktop from Ethernet to WiFi - no help
4. Ran sfc /scannow - it made some corrections, but no change after reboot
I figured an Inplace Update would be a good idea, but stopped when I realized I'd have to use my laptop to download the ISO file, and laptop runs Win11 Home. The wording on the ISO download screen suggested it would be the same version as currently running on the laptop. So I did not get the ISO.
Am I in one of those Catch-22 situations where you need a broken machine to fix itself, but the thing that's broke is what you need to get the fix? Or am I missing something simple?
