Windows 11 System Requirements - Microsoft Support

"Graphics Card: Compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver."

Like many people. I was enjoying W1123H2 on an "unspported", but powerful Xeon machine, until few months ago, when W11 become unstable after an update.

Google confirmed loosing "Suspend option", was due to "suddenly unsupported" old graphics card.

Preferred buying cheap, used "compatible" PC for £120, with built in graphics, rather than used GPU, possibly used for mining, or thrashed with gaming. Also this machine, is main "Work PC", so has to be operational, at all times.

Would make an intelligent "guess", and suggest, is very likely, there are more "updates" on the horizon, that will cause "unsupported" machines/hardware, to not run Win11.

your Xeon has SSE 4.2 so will be able to run 24H2 when its released so maybe a half decent graphics card might be the way to go.
unless of course you decide differently.

this is most likely not of much help, best of luck. Steve ..

I already have Dell Optiplex that can take 8th/9th gen cpus, I bought ridiculously cheap, off ebay.
Is a Mini tower, so PSU capable enough, to power I9.

So I'm all good, and when Win11 24H2 is out, I will be offered it via update, no drama.

Time wasting, with tinkering, is over.

What graphics card do you have?

I believe that there is no requirement for DirectX 12 support in hardware. Drivers can supply DirectX features in emulation. Not great for performance, but it would still permit 11.

I suppose that you've already gotten the latest graphics drivers, but just in case...

As I'm a bit of an old Computer Scientist, no I don't have the latest graphics card, as I don't subscribe to spending oodles of cash on Computer Hardware, unless it is specifically an investment.

I initially transferred my old GTX 1650, from my Linux box, to Xeon Win11 PC.
While looking for another GTX 1650 to replace the old, I found a Dell 3070, and decided to buy that, and halt the silly tinkering business.

A GTX 1650 isn't very old. It's supported by nVidia's latest drivers. It is fully Windows 11 compliant.

Agreed, the 1650 isn't an unsupported Windows 11 device. It supports Direct X 12 as well as WDDM2 drivers.

Unless your older card was older than the GTX 1650 and you were just using that 1650 as you had it in another machine and could test with it. It worked and you were looking for another 1650 and bought the 3070 instead.

So, it sounds like you bought a 3070 video card. If so, then you should be all set.
Dell Optiplex 3070, I believe. Probably using an iGPU. Cheap.

I bought a Dell Optiplex 3070 PC.
