Hope there is some easy fix to this, tried some repairs DISM, but found nothing wrong.
Get this when trying to open a txt file.

Re-installation delivers another error. Reset Windows store. No difference.

Btw, I have an account on Tenforums, how to get that working on 11 forums--

Some more detail would help - how are you trying to open the file, are you opening from within notepad or just clicking it?

As for your Ten Forums account, this is a separates site and nothing carries over.

Within Notepad I get error, cant open file. From txt file I get that error above directly clicking on a txt file.
Open Settings --> Apps --> Apps & features found the Notepad and from Advanced options you can Repair or Reset notepad.
Tried both, does not solve anything.

I had the same problem with Windows 11 Notepad:
When clicking on any .txt file in Explorer, got error: 'unable to start the application...'
Notepad.exe is present in both Windows and Windows\SysWOW64 folders.
Notepad will open if I click the Notepad.exe file in Windows.

Did Google search and found this thread.
Followed instructions given by FreeBooter. Used Search in Apps & Features > App list to locate Notepad.
Tried Repair first. Did not fix.
Tried Reset. This fixed the problem.
But now, when I search for Notepad in All list, there is no result.
Rebooted. No change.
Attempted to re-install Notepad from MS Store.
Windows will download Windows Notepad from the store, but when it attempts to install, get the following error:
Hit Retry to get the app
Your device restarted while the app was downloading
Code: 0x8007045B

Same error if I attempt to install 'Notepad+' from the MS Store.

Pinned shortcut to Notepad.exe (in C:\Windows) to Start menu. I can now run Notepad from this new shortcut.
Now have two Notepad shortcuts on Start menu:
One is the old Windows 10 icon, the other is the new Windows 11 icon.
When I click on the Windows 10 Notepad icon, Notepad will open.
When I click on the Windows 11 Notepad icon, nothing happens

Notes:
I did an in-place upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on the MS Insider Beta channel.
Notepad was working fine before the upgrade.

Hopefully, the next release will fix this problem, but I'm not holding my breath.
I wanted to post this in the MS Insider Flighting feedback, but I read that MS feedback is worthless, so I didn't bother.

You can also try removing notepad in PowerShell with the command Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.WindowsNotepad* | Remove-AppxPackage then reboot and reinstall via Microsoft store.
