Solved windows-11 still trying to get windows-10 updates

Hi all...

If this in an old subject, my apologies. I've searched here and via Google, found no results.

Just did an apparently-successful "update" from Windows-10 to Windows-11, via the current Microsoft .ISO file, using its SETUP.EXE. Took a LONG time, but eventually finished, and W-11 looks OK.

EXCEPT: When I run UPDATE in W-11, the W-11 updates run as expected, but the list of "download and update" includes a bunch of W-10 updates - they fail, of course. If I reset and try again, the same W-10 KB-xxx files are listed again, and of course fail again.

Question: How can I get rid of these, so that (1) they never appear in the 'to be updated' list and (2) windows is prevented from trying again to install them and always fails?

Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions are welcome!

Here are a few techniques to reset the Windows Update components to fix stuck updates trying to download and install on Windows.

Maybe try this MS tool to hide the offending updates

Download Show or hide updates from Microsoft

If the Windows 10 show up, simply check mark the box next to it
and click on the next button. It should show Fixed after a little bit
of time. It depends on how many updates are hidden.

First, I tried several of the suggestions from the you-tube video. No joy...

Then, I downloaded & tried the Microsoft 'Show Or Hide Updates' tool. Ran it - no joy either - it didn't list the W-10 updates at all.

Finally, in desperation, I used the W-11 'Recovery' function (Settings | Windows-Update | Advanced-Options | Recovery) to go back to W-10 (That worked like a charm) and ran IT'S updater (found several) until it reported 'Your System Is Up-To-Date'. Then re-ran the whole upgrade process.

Final result: Success! W-11 is running again (including all of my apps & data), and reporting NO pending W-10 updates.

So, bottom line - if anyone uses the W10-to-W11 'upgrade' process, make sure your W-10 is fully updated before you start! Then, just be patient for an hour or more ... it WILL finally succeed.
