Solved Windows 11 upgrade from Win 10 fails repeatedly

Hi,

I am new to Win 11. I am trying to upgrade, but keep running into problems.
I had a 0x8007000d - 0x2000c with the below message box.
Snap_2025.11.11_20h11m08s_001_.webp
I am installing onto a SSD with over 20 GB free space. I am using Rufus installed onto a USB stick.
I did not watch the whole installation but when I was watching Windows 11 made steady progress.

Anything else that can be done about this error?

0x8007000d → The data is invalid. This typically points to corrupted or missing system files that Windows setup needs.
0x2000c → This is a phase-specific error during the SAFE_OS phase of installation, often related to applying updates or drivers. It means the upgrade process couldn’t continue because of invalid or corrupted input.
Causes:
Damaged or incomplete installation media
Corrupted system files on your current Windows 10 installation.
Insufficient disk space (though you mentioned >20 GB free, You have to have enough disk space to accomodate the window.old folder which can be much larger than 20gb. How much free space do you have?
Outdated drivers or incompatible hardware.
Third-party antivirus or security software interfering.

You give absolutely no info on your hardware. Is your machine compatible or incompatible. Does your cpu support sse4.2 instruction set?

You should probably do an In-Place Upgrade first, then try to upgrade to Windows 11.

Hello,

Thanks for the replies.
The PC has an AMD FX 8350 with 32GB fitted, so should comply.
The C drive is showing 26GB of free space. I have larger areas of free space on other partitions.

I managed to get some log files, I have not installed WMIC yet. I am not sure what to look for in the log files though.
I ran DISM and sfc / scannow.

I want to keep my files and programs and I did use Rufus.

I used the "product server" command in the end and after more problems with my old activation key used the Microsoft KMS activation.
All running now.
