Solved Clean-Install of 22631.2506 Pro fails repeatedly

No... it was 5.8GB. Delete of a file that big, skips the recycle bin. I even tried Recuva.

What's the exact link you're using to download the... package?

This is what's in the "download package". Extract this to a folder on your desktop, then double click the file in the RED box, to create the ISO image.

I did all of that, as I have been using UUPDUMP to create ISO images for some time. In this case, it says it's done, listing about a half-dozen downloaded files and saying to press a key to exit.

In other cases, when it builds the ISO file, it takes a LOT longer and I can see it building the file in percentages at the end.

This case looks very different.

The link I'm using is the third link in this page:

That was the link that somoene else here had used and claimed it built the ISO for them.

Starting in post #57... when you run the uup_download_windows.cmd from UUPDump, it opens a Powershell window with a BLACK background. This is the download phase of the operation.
It's downloading all the pieces it will need to build the ISO.

Then during the ISO building phase, the Powershell window background turn BLUE, and it builds the ISO.
When it's finished you will see this (YELLOW box)...

When this particular ISO is built, it will be 5.8GB and it took 45 minutes to complete on my computer.
This is what the ISO will be called...

22631.2506.231018-1809.23H2_RELEASE_SVC_PROD3_CLIENTPRO_OEMRET_X64FRE_EN-US.ISO
This is the Windows 11 Pro x64... 23H2 ISO.

This ISO is up-to-date and includes the Enablement Package, and the "Servicing Stack Update".

Note: I just spent 45 minutes running this, just so I could get the screenshots.
I want paid in... Big Macs.

When I press a key, the "black" window simply goes away, it does not switch to a "blue" window (as it did in the past).

Yeah, that's wrong. You shouldn't get the "press any key to continue", and the list of items downloaded is way too short.

I downloaded from your link and Bitdefender is disinfecting.
My link is from uupdump.net, your link is from osdump.com

I have to restore from a backup now.

OK, I downloaded from your link and the file is the same as the one I have: 22631.2506_amd64_updates_a8198661.zip

I extracted this and ran it and the window result looks the same -- download completed, press any key. When I press a key, the window disappears.

I don't understand what is happening. I used UUPDUMP a while back to get the same ISO and it worked without issues.

Guess if I want an ISO, I'll have to wait until MS posts a link to it.

In ten years, I've never seen Bitdefender go insane like that.

The "titles" don't mean a thing... the web addresses are what's important.

I'm doing the MCT (ISO creation) now. I'll post if setup.exe works in a few...

The MCT - ISO works fine. When you click setup.exe it takes about 20 seconds to open.
But that might be Bitdefender scanning it.

I did a new install on Sunday on a Notebook, got build 22621.2824 after the automatic updates. After some driver installs and a couple of reboots rechecked Windows Update and got KB5031455 but still had 22H2. Installed windows11.0-kb5027397-x64_3a9c368e239bb928c32a790cf1663338d2cad472.zip I had saved from another computer update and got 23H2 but the number is not showing as installed in Windows Update.

In Update History, scroll down and look in the "Uninstall Updates" section.
There doesn't seem to be any pattern to where KB5027397 shows in Update History.

For some it's in Update History, for others it's in Uninstall Updates.

Yep, I expect the MCT ISO to work, but it is build 2506 that seems to have a problem. Clen install works fine, but running setup from the media doesn't always work.

That is normal. Windows Update only records updates that it installs itself in its Update History. No update you install manually will appear there.

As Ghot says, it should appear in the 'Uninstal updates' list though, all updates appear there however they got installed.
