Solved Windows 11 - Windows Defender missing


So I did the UUP Dumps and it finished downloading and created an iso for me and I burned it using Rufus, this pc is my gaming pc so the most good thing is to do a clean install, so during windows installation when it reaches around 70% I get an error of missing or corrupted files... I formatted my Windows drive.... guess its an unfortunate series of events, anyhow in here we have a local website and I found an untouched iso of the latest windows 11 beta currently downloading it in my workstation and will update you later, and thank you all for the support really appreciate

I just had the same problem on my new laptop. At first I thought it was because of the fact that I just uninstalled all the McAfee software that came preinstalled. My solution was to install and activate my ESET Internet Security program.

WOO HOO. I found a solution online with out having to do any installs, repairs, etc.

Open Windows Powershell as an administrator.

Then perform this command:

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

Voila. Fixed.

I had the exact same issue as the original poster until this. Hope it helps someone out there.

I took a slightly different route. I fancied W11, but it was not an option when on the beta channel, so I switched to the dev channel and was immediately ofered W11. So my route was an upgrade, and The full copy of my W10 that I made first just in case was not needed, everything still worked, Windows Defender is actually better,(the offline scan didn't work in W10) and even the free Malwarebytes was still there. Now I'm back with the beta channel, (I changed back as soon as Microsoft offered W11to the beta channel).

I just discovered that I am having the exact same problem that MetalSaint is having and I too am getting the same Pop-up message. But I also found that the Windows Defender updates are taking place normally and it is working properly(?) in the background. My Laptop has the latest Windows Insider Beta Win 11 installed. Fresh install of Windows would be too much of a hassle as MetalSaint has already stated.

You can manually start defender each time you boot your PC, that works too.

Ok,, the issue covered in this discussion was about Defender not being activated when booting up. Well.. I discovered that doing a clean instillation solved that and that's what I recommended, doing a clean instillation. But now it seems that Defender was in a major transition and now you can't disable it as you could with previous versions of Windows. So it seems that the issue was due to the changes being made to it more than anything else.

I'm sure there is a way to disable Defender via a reg hack.. I've not investigated how to accomplish this but I might do just that this week. Having said that I also would think using a third party AV could let you use it and still have the ability to disable it.

All of the changes in Defender are due to MS's push for greater device security as seen with the sweeping changes in Windows 11.

I upgraded to Release Preview Win11 from Win10, and I have similar problem, but I have perfectly working Windows Defender. Only in App List I got ms-resource: DisplayName, when I right click on that, and go to App Settings, I got Settings Page for Microsoft.Windows.SecHealthUI 19043.
I think it is old Defender from Win10. Is there any way to Delete this app?

I'm going to try the in-place repair, because I can't get Defender to show its face, even though the very first updates I got after my install of 11 this afternoon (on my i7-7700, which is the only component that doesn't meet the listed prereqs) were the Defender database update and a Defender platform update.

BTW, I'm on 22000.194.
