Wireless Mouse not found by Win11

64 bit Win11 Home. HP. I tried to connect my Acer bluetooth wireless optical mouse to my brand new Win11 computer, but Windows could not find it. What can I do? Thanks, Jon.

Have you paired the wireless mouse with its receiver?

Jon, did you shutdown your PC then placed the USB receiver into a USB port and restart your PC?

@Anak, instructions say for this bluetooth mouse on a computer with bluetooth, I don't need the dongle. However, I also did what you say. It didn't work either way. That's why I came here.
@FreeBooter, Yes, paired. I did the Bluetooth (Windows 11) method in your link. The mouse never appeared in the list.

Make sure Mouse is on, does it have a switch built-into the slider pad like wireless mice do? Then make sure you don't see any red if you do then slide the switch to cover the red, red means off.

Go to >Settings >Bluetooth, click on "add a device" it might take a few moments to appear but you should see your mouse listed there, then follow the prompts to finish the pairing.

I use Bluetooth mice on all my Notebooks that include BT as part of the Wireless/Wi-Fi adapter. I get BT in Device Manager in addition to it being in the Network section. When moving a mouse to a different computer I end up Removing the entry in BT then add back in. Also have to press the button on the bottom near the power switch. I have Microsoft, Logitech and Targus mice. I like them as I don't have to make sure the Wireless mouse and the USB dongle it came with remain together, haven't tried the Logi [Logitech] Unifying pair yet.

It's Bluetooth . . . no dongle required. Just pairing . . .

I forgot to add, that when it shows up in the add a device list, click on it.

Yeah, I figured that one out.

Did you push the button on the mouse to put it in pairing mode? Once you do that it should show up when the Bluetooth setup searches for devices to pair to.

@MisterEd, Yes, I did push and hold down the connect button, but the mouse never showed up in the device list.

Did you try replacing the batteries in the mouse?

Thanks, @Ghot, I tested the mouse batteries (AAA) in my battery tester. They both show strong.

Well, I hope "strong" is... enough.
Are they... strong like bull, or strong like mouse?
Strong like tank, or strong like Volkswagen?
Strong like Superman, or strong like Batman?

When was the last time the device work properly?
Please list us the steps you take in an attempt to pair the device.
You may need to change from 'Default' to 'Advanced' for the mouse to show.( bottom option)

I'm out of ideas, I don't have any personal experience with BT and what I saw during a search for BT and win11 is that it works or it don't

Have you tried the mouse on another PC? Updating drivers for chipset, Bluetooth might help, considering it is a new PC.

Thank you @OAT. Never worked before. Brand new HP Windows Laptop received for Christmas. Bluetooth Mouse first time out of the box. This is the first thing I have done with my new Laptop after taking it out of S mode. Doing Advanced search (thanks for the tip) found some more devices. Original search found Smart TV and Speakers. Advanced search also found 3 unknown devices and 3 others I don't recognize: Triones A4C138643D, MYQ-B22, cc:04:b4:08:41:d1 I selected each one for connecting and got red message on each: We didn't get any response from the device. Try connecting again.
As to method: As soon as window for listing discoverable devices appears, I turn on the mouse and hold down the connect button until the light starts flashing.

@TairikuOkami, thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately I don't have another bluetooth enabled PC. I will consider updating drivers if nothing else works. Little leary of that since the computer is really brand new, high end, so it is very likely up to date.

Have you checked - Windows Update - Advanced options - Optional updates? Those do not install automatically.

You have to start by pressing the button on the mouse to start pairing mode. Did you do that?

Here is an example where I paired a Logitech K380 Bluetooth keyboard

1. Pressed button on keyboard until it goes into pairing mode. Light starts rapidly flashing.

2. In settings select Add a device



3. Select Bluetooth



4. The laptops Bluetooth will search for available devices. Within 10 seconds it found the keyboard. Once found I needed to select it. Once selected it will proceed to connect.
