Hi there, John. Not 100% sure what you mean?

Best way to determine the original senders address is to either hover over or click on the <emailaddress> to get the complete & correct email address.
If [email protected] is turning into <[email protected]> during or after you type it, that’s fine, it generally means that your em client recognises the address because you have possibly sent mail to it before. I believe. OR Sometimes it’s just how an email address is interpreted by an em client <address> followed by ; (separator)
So <address>; <nextaddress>
If you were expecting an email from this address but haven’t seen it, check your spam folders.
If you want to know if you successfully sent an email to this address, check your sent items folders.

Do a search in your em client for that address to make sure you didn’t get a “failure to send” email that you may of missed.

It’s a perfectly valid way to send an email.

The part between the angle brackets is what the email client uses.

The part between the quotes is for the human being using the client. If you had that address in your contacts with a friendly “display name,” that is what would be in the quotes.

You could actually put something like ‘Slippery Pete’ <[email protected]>, and the email would reach Dave, not Pete.
