Solved Is this true that Gmail will be no longer in existence from this august

Hi, Elsewhere in the news item, I read that Gmail is going to be discontinued from August 2024. Is that true. if it is true then gmail is doing disservice to the world at large.
So many emails would have been sent to self email with enclosures and the important mails and their enclosures , everything would be lost and there will be no digital proof of so many important documents stored as attachment to the emails.
Gmail was in existence, from long back and so many govermnets and world in particular only in gmail. Gmail is versatile and a mail used by all the persons.
Why this thought on Gmail is not known. Some emails are without any enclosures and they could not be backed up that much easily.
Is there a way of saving total mails to a drive and then edit and delete unwanted gmails?
Firstly tell me if this is true and if true what the google is going to give the chance of backing up of those mails stored in individual accounts

I have already looked up so much articles . A one line hoax did not convince me at all.
Let others say, I also must add that you have got to look in to other sources, which says otherwise.

Unless you believe the world is flat, birds aren't real, aliens built the Egyptian pyramids, the moon landing was faked, chemicals in the water are turning frogs gay, then I can’t convince you otherwise.

I could just see , the sentence that gmail is here to stay and nothing more. There are other posts but none touch this subject.

That's what I believe, the rest I don't.

Well even turkeys can vote for Xmas. What could more likely is that to use that dreadful US "consultanese speak" where the pressure is on to monetise every last possible thing it could become another one of those dreaded subscription things or become ad supported i.e some type of banner ads appearing in your emails.

I'd switch away from Gmail anyway -- Thunderbird is free and quite good plus there are a few reasonably cheap alternatives too.

I hope so -- but the way every business seems to be trying to extract the last £,$,€ 0.005 or whatever from customers - who knows. Even Amazon Prime is now adding ads to its video service (mind you I only joined Amazon Prime for speedy and shipping free deliveries -- it does that quite well and is worth the annual fee IMO).

I find I watch less and less TV these days as the programs IMO seem to be getting more and more imbecellic even compared to those a few years ago.

Even the mighty Google isn't above wanting to make more dosh - and of course sophisticated AI that works properly will require huge amounts of investment before it even starts making €1.00 profit (plus huge power requirements as there needs to be far more than even an exponential power increase in computer hardware (and software of course).

It is not the email tool that would be the issue but the loss of a gmail address.

It would be a nightmare informing people of an email address change.

Fortunately, this is all fake news but it does show how fake news could lead to serious consequences.

One should not forget, that Gmail is tightly bound to Google Drive.
Where you can use 15 GB for free, but for more you have to pay (like MS OneDrive).
And I know quite a lot of people, who have a payed subscription for Google Drive
They mostly started by having a Gmail account and directing all their mail through that channel.

I imagine, that if Gmail service would end, then many customers that use GMail and Google drive would end their subscription of Google Drive, because they would hate such a decision.
