4TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD becoming disconnected logically requiring reboot.

I just a new shiny 4TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD on the 30th/31st of May this year...
was working fine without problems until today... when it was idle for many hours maybe...
it seemed to have gone into low power idle mode... disconnecting from the PC but still showing up as E:\ drive...
but giving me errors anytime I tried to access folders in File Explorer...
ERROR MESSAGE: "Failure status: A device which does not exist was specified."
To fix it I had to fully shutdown the PC and power off the power supply and on again.. then boot up to find all still in tact on the SSD...
a chkdsk also came back clean... and a SMART test using Samsung Magician showed all good too...
so that leaves a firmware issue it seems... Oooh Samsung please get you act together..
Is anyone else having this issue too with a 990 PRO?
I found reports on Reddit of the same issue.. suggesting a temp fix to enable full performance mode in Samsung Magician for that drive to prevent idle mode...

Its firmly inserted into the M.2 port on my motherboard...
not an issue with the mobo either as my 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe SSD never had any issues in that same port #2.

I did check the system logs,
there was a lot of errors/warnings displayed further down the log when it happened... and I was afk.
It seems to have been an idling issue with the SSD going into a low or off state..
so a firmware issue...
I will post an excerpt from the email contact I have had with Samsung's USA partner...
My desktop PC so system #1 here on the forums..
and yes no firmware updates..
Also I just bought it on the 30th of May this year... so 5 days ago... and got it one day later via Amazon.

If so, I’d kind of expect you see others complaining?
Have you tried entering Full Power Mode for the drive via Samsung magician.
Here are some of the issues reported (compiled) about the NVMe and firmware
Random Disconnections & Detection Failures
Users have experienced the 990 PRO 4TB intermittently disappearing from their systems, requiring multiple restarts or power cycles to be recognized again. reddit.com
Firmware Update Failures
Attempts to update the SSD firmware using Samsung Magician have failed for some users, with the software either not recognizing the drive or the update process failing without clear explanations.reddit.com+2dell.com+2us.community.samsung.com+2
High Host Write Counts
Some users have reported unusually high host write counts on their 990 PRO 4TB drives, leading to concerns about accelerated wear and reduced lifespan, even with minimal actual data usage. reddit.com
Performance Degradation
There are reports of significant drops in write speeds, with some users observing speeds as low as 400 MB/s, far below the expected performance for a PCIe 4.0 SSD. us.community.samsung.com
Drive Failures and Data Loss
Instances of complete drive failure have been reported, with users experiencing sudden data loss and the SSD no longer being recognized by the system, even after troubleshooting.

"Have you tried entering Full Power Mode for the drive via Samsung magician."
yup I did that today after it happened.. and I read up up on it a bit.
#1 Random Disconnections & Detection Failures
is what happened to my 990 PRO, but only once so far.
I hope it doesn't happen again.. but I am hoping on a firmware fix at some point.
it appears to be an idling and lower power state issue maybe..

My reply was based on your question.....
so that leaves a firmware issue it seems... Oooh Samsung please get you act together..
Is anyone else having this issue too with a 990 PRO?
I found reports on Reddit of the same issue.. suggesting a temp fix to enable full performance mode in Samsung Magician for that drive to prevent idle mode...

Did you try preventing idle mode as suggested? Normal idle mode only consumes a couple of watts, so low power idle for a desktop seems to be mostly pointless, at least IMO.

yes I did that that the other day after it happened I started to research the issue..
so yes full performance mode is set full via custom mode.. I didn't want over provisioning on..
so I enabled only full power mode.
