Solved 4TB SSD Won't expect data transfer

It's those over inflated silicon prices that made it possible to increase the cost of mechanical hard drives. Not a buyer's market anymore.

I agree. I am glad I bought the internal and external SSDs when I did. I am not going to buy anymore until the prices come down a lot.

I still use external HDDs. Currently I have enough for my backups. Hopefully I won't to buy anymore until the prices drop.

Here are the SDDs and HDDs I am currently using. Note how much more expensive they are in May 2026.



Note : I have several internal 2.5" & 3.5" HDDs purchased 2011-2023 that are not actively being used anymore. I sometimes use them in external enclosures.

I'm almost embarrassed to say how many hard drives and SSDs I own. Definitely over 100. Many of them are under 1TB. I'm not sorry I have them. I've bailed out many people in the past, desperately in need of a hard drive but unable to afford to purchase one. As a courtesy I will give them a used drive to get them up and running again until they can afford to purchase a new drive. No apologies.

I remember in 2002 when I was serving in Greek Army, I was positioned at the "Research and Informatics Office" (Greek Army Computer and IT Support Department) and we had an old PC running Windows 2000 (newer XP was not fully tested and deemed "dangerous") with many small disks. A colleague had joined these small disks in a large logical disk with JBOD (aka Just a Bunch Of Disks). You could do the same to make a large SSD out of three or more SSD. They don't even have to be the same model or same capacity. Only drawback, if anyone of the group fails, you lose all your data, so make sure you backup or avoid storing anything very important. I am not sure if you can install Windows on a JBOD group, but I would obviously avoid it.
