Bootup Hangs at Bios Post screen

I have a Western Digital My Book external drive. It has been connected to a USB 3.0 port for two years. The computer has started with no issues during this time.
I moved into a new house. the computer is connected exactly the way it was before the move. Each time I reboot now, I have to disconnect the USB cord before the
PC will continue to load Windows 11. The boot cycle hangs where the bios post screen appears. I have reverted back from the latest Dev version. I am now on build22543.rs.prerealese.220122-2315. That didn't help. I have checked and made sure all the relevant drivers had been updated. I am on the latest bios revision.
If any of you are experiencing this issue, I would appreciate any ideas that would resolve this issue. Thanks

Will Do! I failed to mention, this is not the boot drive. It's also not the only external drive connected. That one is over
12 years old. No issues with that one. I suspect it's not a Win 11 issue, but a Bios problem. I may have to get a new motherboard.
I haven't had the time to dig into the PC. I will try CrystalDiskInfo also. Thanks for the reply.

1) Please post an image of the full box task manager startup tab.



2) Post images of Disk Management:
a) widen these columns: Volume and Status > make sure that no characters are cut off
b) widen these rows: Disk 0, disk 1, disk 2, etc. > make sure that no characters are cut off


3) During the startup hang press the numerical lock key and indicate whether the light goes on and off.
Reboot then disconnect the drive and perform the same step during any startup hang.

I had problems with 3.0 external drives while booting ..... something to do with polling the drive during boot.
you can test whether its the drive or not that is hanging the system by just unplugging it and booting.
down load Hard disk sentinel Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring
check the drive for errors. defrag or trim the external.

Pay particular attention to @zbook 's post.

Just a comment, there's been issues with booting USB drives with the BIOS having built-in support for USB 2 ports but USB 3 required having drivers loaded by the Operating System, most of my machines are like that. There are much newer motherboards and Notebooks that have combination 3/2 ports that don't have the issue, my small 11" and 12" are that way.

I greatly suspect the drive itself has an issue. I connected it to another computer. The PC never recognized it. I tried a different USB 3.0 cord (new).
It still failed to be recognized. Tomorrow, I will place it back on the PC it was working on. I will run that CrystalDiskInfo app and see what results it presents. That is if the drives appears in the list. I've never had one fail in this fashion before so I've learned something. I will come back and report on the results here.

I connected the drive back up to the original PC and ran CrystalDiskInfo on it. It The Health Status indicated "Good". I left it connected and restarted the PC. It loaded perfectly with no delay and no hang-up. There is one change I made that may have made the difference. The power adapter was not the one that came with the drive. It was only rated at 1/5 amp. I found the original and connected it. It was 1.5 amp capacity.
From this point the drive tested and ran normally. I would say the issue was the low capacity power adapter.
