I play Fallout 4 and on occasion it will suddenly descend into desktop. No BSOD, just there, then not.

Something from system tray gets in foreground priority instead game if game is in borderless window mode .. samsung magician did that to me in earlier versions..

Cromax: As I never use windows mode thats a new one on me. The only time I used win mode was on a surface 2 which refused to run in 'normal mod' I got a surface 5 (second hand from a UK computer exchange shop) which I call my CEX shop. But on Surface 5 it works perfectly in normal mode, so could it be 'older' software, strictly a guess?

Good point as my games are invariably 'old'. I have been playing a 2003 game (modified), a 2007 game, with mods, Far Cry 2 and Fallout 4. The newer 'ultra' games dont really interest me much. When we went from 8 to 10 I had problems, then along came 11 and everything was easily better, except FO4. I blame Nvidia for that, not 11.

Hey Guys. So I finally got MSI to replace the GPU. It is a refurbished 2070 Super. foodle MSI btw. I will never purchase anything from them again. But it is a different GPU. I also purchased different RAM. They are CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB Model CMW32GX4M4C3600C18. I triple checked and they are compatible with my motherboard.

I am still seeing BSOD on game start up. It almost always says Critical Process Died every time. I can consistently replicate the crash but no logs/ memory dumps are being created per usual.

At this point I only have three things left that I can try to replace. Motherboard, CPU, and SSD. More RMAs. Fun

Some of the Computer BSOD bughchecks are seen with drive problems.

The logs also reported drive problems.

Drive tests had been performed in post #3.

Please find another disk drive for testing purposes.

Make a free backup image and restore the image on the new disk drive.

Remove all other disk drives and remove cables while testing computer stability / instability.

Monitor the computer using Reliability Monitor:

If there are continuing BSOD after drive / cable replacement then consider swap testing or replacing the motherboard.

I ended up doing RMAs for every component. Gigabyte found no issues with the motherboard and sent it back. Intel sent me a new CPU and WD sent me a new SSD. So it was either the SSD or CPU but everything is working now.
