I have a rather weird issue, and I don't know if anyone here has experienced the same.
Since I updated to that version in particular, I started to see write speeds on my NVMe drive go down dramatically, especially in SEC1M 1Q1T and random tests. I checked this because I started to notice peaks in drive usage, which I had never experienced since I built this system in 2023. If speeds are that slow, it explains why the disk looks overwhelmed with write requests and reaches 100% usage, sometimes making things "hang" slightly, or causing programs to fail to write files because the drive is already dealing with a queue.
This is weird; it's like the old HDD days, lol.
Anyway, I noticed this behavior ever since I updated to this particular version of Windows, and I don't know if anyone else has experienced issues like this. I know I should update, but I'm very cautious and check if a particular update has issues before proceeding with updates manually (and it seems the latest Preview Update came with a handful of issues itself).
I've checked Event Viewer and Reliability History, and I see nothing wrong—no errors related to the drive. After some research, this seems to have to do with slow write speeds and the disk queue quickly building up until it reaches 100%. Obviously, I need to wait until it returns to lower percentages. This doesn't take long, just a few seconds IIRC.
The disk looks healthy at 99%, and running tests doesn't bring it over 55°C. It has a heatsink graciously provided by MSI, and I recently cleaned the drive with isopropyl alcohol, removing some "grease" from the thermal pad that leaked onto the drive.
I'm out of ideas... I'm hitting a brick wall wondering what's going on—whether it's this Windows version, the drive dying for some unknown reason, or something else entirely.
Oh, I have two more drives of this exact same model: one running in my mom's PC (which has the same hardware, except it doesn't have a dGPU) and one in my HP laptop. Neither of them gets overloaded or seems to have this issue.
