Windows has always liked opening new Windows Explorer windows in random places on my desktop.

Does anyone know of a Windows Explorer toolbar button (or system tray icon) that moves current window to certain position (that I set) on my display?

Explorer remembers the last position where it was closed. At least it should.

If Explorer doesn't remember last position, try holding Ctrl when closing. To open it in certain position, you could try POwertoys utility called FancyZones.

It's that behavior that's the problem. It only works fine if there is only ever one Explorer window open at a time.

My issue is that I always want my first window to be at the bottom-right. If I do that, but then open a second window (which usually defaults to the top-left) and close the first window first (then the second), when I open a new window, it will not be back at the bottom-right. It's annoying.

There are Extensions for Chrome (e.g., Window Resizer) that I can place in the Chrome window itself that, upon a mouse click, will move that window (and adjusts it's size) to something I like. I want the same for Explorer (though size is less of an issue).

Or the one that is in the right place is the last one you close lol. But remembering to make sure the others are closed first, well, that is the easy part to forget. Been there.

Already since Windows 7 I use ShellFolderFix, a tiny freeware programm to (automatically) store and retrieve the screenpositions of every Explorer window.

It does remember the position for every folder that you open via a direct shortcut (on your desktop or in the startmenu). For instance: I have shortcuts on my desktop for C (system), D (documents), E (all other files), W (workarea). When I start D, move that windows to the far right corner, start C move that window to the far left corner, it will op next time in the same place (as was the case in XP or was it still before that?). It does remember the positions too after restarts.

It functions as well in one of the newest versions 23545.1000 (just tested it).

My best results were archieved with this settings:

The advanced settings are all on default.
