Hello,
1. Download bat file from GitHub - TheMMC/In-Place_Upgrade_Helper: Helper-Tool für Windows 10/11 Inplace-Upgrades und Editionswechsel. Download the zip folder.
2. Prepare bootable usb by making FAT32 and NTFS partitions.
3. Mount Windows 11 v24H2 iso from Microsoft official website or uupdump.net Copy files from mounted iso to FAT32 and NTFS partitions. Place the bat file in NTFS partition.
4. Right click bat file In-Place_Upgrade_Helper.bat to Run as Administrator.
5. Upgradation starts.
6. Please note that I have tried this bat file on MBR (HDD) and GPT(SSD) by booting independently. First I booted pc from MBR partition. Then run this bat file as administrator. It works.
7. To upgrade Windows 11 in GPT drive, I booted from Windows boot manager{SSD GPT} as first boot option. Then run this bat file as administrator. It works.
8. It offers option to keep personal files and settings.
9. Please read the help file provided in zip folder for more details.

What's the benefit?
We might just as well mount the ISO & run its setup.exe file.

OP is missing the point of this GitHub script. It hacks the registry so you can upgrade to a different Windows SKU, since upgrades are normally limited to the same edition as installed. If you're not interesting in switching Editions, this script isn't needed.

That isn’t to say that the script isn’t useful. But adding an ei.cfg file to the ISO does the same thing? Albeit with a fresh install needed. Personally, I’d sooner do a fresh install than jump between versions via an in-place upgrade.

There's two key points:
1. If you're performing a clean install, ei.cfg would allow you free choice in the SKU and ignore the existing BIOS product key, or previously installed Windows edition.
2. But you're not allowed to upgrade in-place to a different SKU. If this were Pro/EDU/Enterprise, you could finish the upgrade (on the same SKU) first; and on the conclusion perform a SKU change (licensing).

What you can't normally do is both steps at the same time. The hack overrides the default logic.

The GitHub page explains it RIGHT THERE. I would go by what the developer wrote, and not from a breathless "tech journalist/blogger" who's not a subject expert.

Hello,
To clean install Windows 11 v24H2 build 26080, from bootable usb,on an unsupported pc ,
1. Place RegUpdates.reg in NTFS partition. Please find attached herewith.
2. Restart pc boot from installation media. Press Shift+F10 and run following commands one by one.
x:\sources>diskpart
diskpart>list vol
{Note the letter of NTFS partition of installation media, say K:}
diskpart>exit
x:\sources>cd K:\sources
K:\sources>ren appraiserres.dll appraiserres.dll.old
k:\sources>notepad appraiserres.txt
{Click Yes and close notepad window.}
K:\sources>ren appraiserres.txt appraiserres.dll
K:\sources>Regedit /S K:\RegUpdates.reg
K;\sources>exit
Continue installtion on MBR drive.
To install Windows 11 v24H2 build 26080 on GPT drive, boot the installation media from UEFI mode as first boot sequence.

Yes , now insider preview canary and dev build 26085.

Hello,
Now I am downloading Windows 11 Insider Preview 26085.1(ge_release)(2) amd64 from UUP dump.
After a few hours I will post the result, whether it in place upgrades my unsupported pc from Windows 11 v24H2 build 26080.1 to 26085.1 or not.

If you are running the Insider Dev or Canary build on an unsupported device there's a far more useful script you can run. You just need to run it once, from then on you'll be able to get all future feature updates to the next build installed through Windows Update, just as any supported device would. You'll never need to get another ISO from UUPdump again.

I haven't enrolled for Windows insider preview.
I enabled "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available". But it shows "This setting isn't available due to your organisations policy".
I tried above mentioned .cmd file, but it shows "You're up to date" and stays on build 26080.
So I am continuing to download iso of build 26085 canary channel.
Later I have to try for in place upgrade helper tool by mounting downloaded iso, and copying files to FAT32 and NTFS partitions which is the requirement of this helper tool, back to main topic of this thread.

Hello,
Download of iso Windows 11 Insider Preview 26085.1 (ge_release) (2) amd64 is complete. Iso mounted on virtual drive. All appropriate files copied to FAT32 and NTFS partitions.
Right click bat file In-Place_Upgrade_Helper.bat to Run as Administrator.
Installing Windows 11 Pro canary channel, keeping all files and settings as it is on GPT SSD drive. Installation going on..
