I didn't miss it, I do understand how tight/small difficult such a repair can be and is it worth the effort.

One also has to consider that the soldering would have to be done on the backside of the board. If I had a replacement socket I would try it. It's been years but there was a time I was good at soldering. When I was younger and into electronics, there was an electronic store called Heathkit. I built a few radios from kits I purchased from them. With my aging eyes I don't know if I could do it today. There's a saying that I now completely understand and agree with; Youth is wasted on the young.

I recently saw a film about WWI and I read elsewhere that the last veterans died over 100 years old. So think positive, we might last until 100 or more. Modern Medicine does miracles.

New USB3 hubs arrived today, fitting and connecting them will be straight forward.

Front hub has a USB C charging port, where on my MB do I make the connection for it's cable?

You should need two USB 3.0 headers on the motherboard. One for the two standard ports (female type A) and one for the USB type C port.

It's a ASUS B550 plus wifi ll .

See image, connection is circled in red and is for the front USB C port, where on the MB do I connect it, I can't find it.

If I understand the manual correctly, you can't find the header because it doesn't exist on that board.

I find the USB naming conventions misleading. I'd call this a USB 3.0 header. (Same specs.)

I'm curious as to what case you have.

If you mean PC Case it's Cooler Master, nothing special, does for me about 10-12 years old.

You have nowhere to connect on this motherboard. I agree with bobkn. The connector should look like it does on my motherboard and be called USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps Type-C. In short, it should be labeled as 3.2 Gen 2. It looks something like on my motherboard.

I asked so that I could look up its specs. If you can't say, I'll guess as best I can.

I see that the case already has a USB 3.0 connector (your post 10). I presume that you'll use that with the matching header on your motherboard.

One option would be to use an adapter that gives a USB 3.2 port form one of the motherboard's USB 2.0 headers. Example: Amazon.com The Type C front panel port would be limited to USB 2.0 speed, but at least the USB C port would be active.

(I'm using a USB 2.0 to 3.0 adapter for two of my front 4 USB Type A ports. My motherboard only has one 3.0 header.)

A bit confused by your reply.

I am removing an old front case/panel USB 2 hub with a new front panel hub, comes with 2 x USB 3 ports, phono and mic jacks and a USB C port

Removing old, installing new is not a problem, knowing where and connecting internal cables on MB for new USB 3 hub, not a problem.

What I had forgotten was new USB 3 front hub comes with a USB C port and wondering where I connect it on MB, ( see above image ).

You may have answered the question in your reply and I'm not understanding.

Are you saying there is no actual connector on my MB for USB C and if I wish to use the USB C charging port, to convert it to some type of USB 3 connector?

I wondered what 10 year old case has a USB 3.2 Gen2 style front panel. It probably doesn't.

You're adding an accessory, presumably one that fits in a 3.5" or 5 1/4" external slot of an old case. (Newer cases often lack those.)

Are you willing to tell us what make/model of the device you're adding? That'd make it easier to help you.
