Having to Upgrade my PC

This connector fits the header circled in green, to the best of my knowledge it does not fit any circled in Red.
You have 6 identical four-pin fan connectors for connecting fans. What makes you think that your Fun Plug doesn't fit them? I have laid out a table above. All connectors are the same, but slightly different in functionality. In the photo below, they are under the number four.

Because I tried, fitting first to the A10 pump header and then the one next to it and couldn't get it to fit either.

I've ordered a splitter instead but I will try again connecting direct to the board using A10 and/or cha_fan1.

I don't quite understand what you were adjusting there? You, just don't be offended, write everything a little haphazardly. And as for the splitters, they have the same connectors. Sorry to bother you, but it's a little hard to figure out how to explain the questions you're asking.

I'm not sure I understand the question, my adjusting was I quoted you in my reply, then posted without adding to my reply so edited. I occasionally find myself doing that., is that what you are referring to? :-)

Is it because of the ridges? They are to help plug it in the correct way round.
They slide over a microscopic bit of plastic that sticks out on one side of the socket.

I shaved one of the ridges off the plug with a craft knife.

You might not need to. It depends what your plugs and sockets are like.

Most likely you tried to put them in the wrong way round. It is not easy to see the little blighters on the socket .

Thanks. :-)

I took a closer look at the fan plug, its not fitting because 3 out of the four have plastic over them, the holes I think are there, never had that before, see if I can clear them, no wonder I struggled.

Do you mean they have some sort of cover on them?

My phone camera is playing up at the moment so can't take a photo.

No, what I mean is during the molding of the connector the holes got bunged up, I think that's what may have happened.

I can't complain though, purchased them late last year, 4 of them, new, Noctua Redux 120, all 4 for a Tenner, boot sale, I knew it was a good brand.

I've checked them all, I think it is just this one.

The one fitted to the board is working fine, so fine in fact, I thought at first it wasn't working, so freaking quite, I can't hear it. :-)

How many fans do you need? As far as I can tell from your posts, you are not using a graphics card or anything else that guzzles power and produces masses of heat. What is the advantage of having 4 120mm case fans?

:-) Only 2, front and rear, it was more I bagged myself a bargain and knew they might come in useful and one of the kids has already had one.

And you are correct there is very little internally with my PC that produces any heat.

You got me a bit curious so I delved into the new BIOS.

Inside temp' around 20c,

CPU fan is 825rpm and the case fan is 357rpm.

not necessary. I unplugged them. Cool enough without.

it is quite a big case vented front and back. cpu fan and psu fan does the job.

If I had a graphics card and couple of high power draw nvme next to it, then I would probably arrange some fanning onto them.

or if I had one of those very power hungry intel cpu maybe some fanning onto the vrm

Ok.

I'm of a PC era where it was it was constantly mentioned, you can't have enough fans.

I remember stories of fitting 4 fans or taking the side off the case and using a 16" fan to keep things cool, no idea what was installed to generate such heat to have to go to that level.

It's funny you say " cool enough ", just before putting my PC back to where it sits, I had it on my desk, with just the CPU fan going, it was getting desidly chilly blowing on me and I had wondered about connecting just the one extra case fan.

Old habits die hard tho' so two it is + the CPU fan.

And who knows, the way things are warming up, extra fans maybe required.

I wonder if inside PC can be to cool?

Older CPUs of the Intel Pentium 4 and Core 2 Duo era had standard operating temperature of 60-70 degrees Centigrade and up to 80 degrees was not reason to worry. Sure in the summer you better had some good case cooling to avoid reaching 90 degrees. Modern CPUs have a standard operating temperature below 40 degrees, so unless you have a powerful graphics card generating heat temperature rarely exceeds 65 degrees even in the summer. So you can do without case fans, but it doesn't harm using them. That said, have in mind that very cheap noname fans will probably be noisy, so make sure you buy fans with low noise.

Going into my new bios as I was curious the inside PC temp' is around 20c, so it's running cool with no issues and that's just the CPU fan and 1 case fan, so might not connect the other one.

The original fans, rattled occasionally and were a little noisy but never bothered me, in fact it was like listening to purring but not as loud, reassuring I guess all was working.

I decided to change the case fans as I was rebuilding the PC and had bagged bargain replacements and the originals were getting on.

Fitted now are 2, ( only one connected ) Noctua Redux 120, fans, a good brand and goodness it's quite, almost silent.

I was fretting how to connect the other one but now thinking should I connect the 2nd fan, for now I shan't bother, PC is running just fine with the CPU fan and 1 case fan, the 2nd fan will stay fitted as a standby.

When you enter the BIOS, the load is minimal. It is necessary to check on a running computer. It would be desirable to also give a load, for example, video editing or playing a game. That's when you decide if you still need a fan, especially since it's not summer and there's no heat. For understanding, I attach two screenshots.
