Install error - 0x8007370d

Nothing I do will allow me to install Windows 11 update. I've tried various suggestion found online but nothing happens. Any helpful suggestions appreciated.

You could see if resetting Windows Update using the method in the tutorial below may sort it for you.

Please provide current build number (use winver or Settings, About). Home or Pro?

Also the update with which you're having problems.

One possible option, assumng no problems with your disk and file system (do check first) - and this is what you could try if Brink's tutorial (above) doesn't help, for example:

Windows Update error 0x8007370d means an identity string is malformed or invalid. This happens when system registries—specifically the COMPONENTS hive—become corrupted. It stops Windows from scanning updates properly. You can fix this by repairing system files or performing an in-place upgrade repair install

Others may suggest one of the other possible approaches.

First clear Windows Update cache, restart and search for updates again. One way to do that is open This PC, click on the Windows disk, switch to Tools tab and select Disk Clean-up. Click on the button to also show system options. Make sure Windows Update files is checked and proceed

Another way to do that, is start Task Manager, go at Services section, find wuserv (Windows Update service) and stop it. Then go to folder

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

and delete all contents. Start the service again and search for updates.

WINDOWS UPDATE PROBLEMS things to try

2. Reset Windows update using Brink's tutorial Reset Windows Update in Windows 11 Tutorial

3. Open command prompt as administrator. Enter this command.
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
When complete, Restart computer

Then open command prompt as admin again and run sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair

4. CLEAN UP COMPONENT STORE - dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup
