Is anyone using firefox

I don't know why I don't like microsoft edge maybe it's baggy.
I used to use FireFox, but now for some reason it doesn't want to be installed, nor Google Chrome.
Is there something i need to do?

Error message will be very helpful.

I use firefox always and no issues here. Disable any/all antivirus or security or any VPN etc.

Same... Did you try install FF in Administration mode by right click?

thank you i got it installed now after so many attempts, I googled it and they said microsoft is trying to block it and labbeling it as not a safe app.

I have been using Firefox for years untold. I've never had a problem installing it, nor updating it.

A long time ago, Microsoft tried to block all other browsers, but got into trouble with the EU. I think they've discontinued that practice now; at least I have no problem installing any non-Microsoft browsers today.

MS hasn't got it in for Firefox in particular, it's all executables that you download from the internet. They are marked as possibly unsafe due to having come from another computer. All you have to do is unblock it before running it.

if I download the Firefox browser direct from the mozilla site using a 3rd party downloader tool like Free Download Manager rather than using any web browser, I do not encounter the option to "unblock" it as the download is already unblocked

Just yesterday, I installed Windows 11 on a separate hard drive, and even now, if you want to download Firefox, it doesn't want to download the .exe, message being 'such files may harm your system' , we can opt to 'discard' or 'keep' the download. Once you click 'keep', it downloads !
Of course, this error message is from Edge.
If you need to download Google Chrome, it tries hard "There's no need to download a new web browser" and "Microsoft Edge runs on the same technology as Chrome, with the added trust of Microsoft"

Never seen that happen before. Something else afoot there ....

No trouble with firefox -- I still like menus and a decent toolbar to save bookmarks on conveniently.

I've run it on Linux- ArchLinux, Debian, Fedora and on Windows W11 pro canary, beta and dev and the base std W11 pro.
I've run edge on Linux too as well as on Windows. Can't say I've found it laggy - I just prefer Firefox and I don't like the bing search engine.

There could be the odd problem with firefox not playing multimedia from some sites but if I want multi-media I usually use VLC anyway rather than in a browser -- vlc can play from a url in any case. Besides firefox gets regular updates so any defects are usually quickly repaired.

Installing on Linux can be safer mainly because the programs are installed from the "repos" which are usually maintained accurately for mainstream Linux. You can always install as well from git-hub if you are paranoid -- that is also usually pretty safely maintained although installing from source on Windows to me is magic beyond "Gandalf the Wizard's magic in Lord of the rings". Haven't a clue about that on Windows although there's often a Windows .exe or .msi installer on git-hub too,

This one is relatively new to me, @idgat. IIRC, it happened on a Lenovo laptop I'm setting up for one of my students.

I'm getting ready to "refurbish" an older desktop computer for another student, so I think I'll download a selection of browsers, and make note of how hard/easy it is to download/install them.

Thinking back . . . I had to use Microsoft's installed Edge to download Firefox . . . yeh, what other choice do I have?

If only @provalogo posted screenshots of the issue I'm sure there wouldn't be any mystery here at all. The statement "it doesn't want to be installed" is just too vague.
