Solved Is it true that MS CoPilot will cost $30/month to use?

Regarding the latest 'Moment 4' Windows update Microsoft are showcasing the new 'CoPilot' but it seems as if it will cost a lot to use it. I, for one, will be disabling it on my machines. I can't see anyone paying $30 £25/month to use a feature occasionaly, which I suspect applies to most people.

Question - Have I understood this correctly? How Much is Microsoft Copilot? Everything We Know So Far .

I suggest if you want to use AI then learn python - its not too difficult, runs on Windows and was built with the specific idea of Machine Learning, Robotics, and for A.I.

JSON is another good one -- scrape websites for stock quotes etc and perform technical analysis on the data.

Ms actually could save a whole slew of money and piracy too if they stopped shipping Windows and Office completely in future and just got people to logon to one of its Cloud servers - This could be done via any browser. The remote PC would only need a small boot program to connect to the Internet and start a browser -- very easily done most NIC cards in computers can also "remote boot" .

I suspect that this idea is still being looked at -- I think there was quite a big discussion of this topic a while back. Ms probably think it's a bit to early to go this route but I'm sure that's the future for Windows and Office eventually.

As I understand it, the paid stuff is for enterprise. Home users just don't need it and wouldn't pay, so there would be no point making a subscription AI model for them.

JSON is really simple too - On Linux install package jq ,on Windows I think it's built in

here's a simple file -- far easier than messing around with HTML, XML, CSS formats etc. Save as type .json.

@jimbo45 - No, I don't want to use AI. I was only noting that CoPilot will soon be available but (I strongly believe) only a minority will use it (as @z3r010 says) due to $30/month cost. Yes, it seems aimed at Enterprise/business users and 99% of Home users don't need it and won't pay for it. I am sure that some will but they will be in a minority I reckon.

Just thought I would check that I understood correctly. I'll forget about CoPilot now. 'Solved'.

My thoughts too.

I'm not bothering with it either. I quite like JSON though for messing around with the Stock market !!! That is quite fun - scraping data from websites and massaging it.

Since most of the bigger components in the UK FTSE100 seem to be foreign based so expressed in Sterling which is going through a rough period in the FOREX markets it would seem a good bet that the FTSE 100 index (S&P 100) should rise - but if I could predict the market I wouldn't be here typing - but lazing away on some beautiful yacht near some exotic coast and being served by nice nubile young things !!!.

There's CoPilot and then there's CoPilot.

The 23H2 Copilot is a severely limited version (for free), that is pretty stupid, with the web aspects only working through EDGE.
In short, it's more a tool for MS to trap you into using EDGE, and Microsoft Store Apps.

The Business version is not free ($30/month/user, or more), and seems to be a pretty useful tool. But again, it seems more a tool for Microsoft, to trap you into using their other subscription based software.

In my country people are fond of orange!
Is the colour of the royal house and massively used in occasions of (international) footballmatches and skating tournaments.

CoPilot only requires EDGE for the "web things" you might want to do. Like... summarize an article you found on the web.
Or doing searches with CoPilot.

CoPilot will still write poems and stories about bunnies on the moon for you, without using EDGE.



Personally... I think CoPilot is for the same people that use things like... Grammarly.
It's for those people that didn't pay attention in grade school.

I looked in my registry at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows and it is not there so I guess my Win-11 update didn't get it.

I found that info somewhere and looked to see if I had copilot in my PC. Really don't remember where, just searched and found out to look in that registry location. Sorry, it was not memorable.

I have nothing in that registry location, and I have Copilot in both Builds 22621.2361 and 22631.2361.
Copilot was not showing up on machines using a windows local account. I switched the windows login to a MS account and Copilot showed up on the next login. After that I switched back to Local account and Copilot remained available.

Don't have much to say about it but I just do not like MS or anyone else snooping in my PC and some of this useless programming they install in our machines should be eliminated. I simply asked how to remove software I have no use for and that is what the Internet Goddess gave me.

It's like MS trying to force us to use Edge. It's basically an enhanced Cortana which is now defunct. I don't use Edge or never used Cortana. I am not installing this update as it affects the dropshadow on my desktop icon labels. I do not want dropshadow.

Easy to disable, without messing with the registry.
Copilot has a major bug anyway; it screws up the desktop layout rearranging all the desktop icons.
I was not going to use A.I. (aka Absolute Idiocy) anyway, I was just testing to see what it does, and now I just disabled it.
