Is there any Linux version that uses "English" under the hood?
Aka, now sudo, no weird shortened English words like... usr, etc.

Ya know... just plain English. Like having my User folder called... User
No command prompt gobble-de-gook, either. Like if I want to find the active partition on my system, I could type:
"Which are the active partitions?"
Or like if I wanted to do something stupid like deleting the System32 folder, I could just type:
"Delete System32"

Enquiring minds, want to know. :)

The short answer is no. Everything under the hood in Linux is a file, thus you will never completely get away from the command prompt. And for documentation and automation purposes, I love doing as much as I possibly can from the command prompt.

The easier more friendly distributions typically are Linux Mint and Pop_OS!. I haven't played with POP much yet, but from what I have heard it's pretty good for gaming, etc.

Well, if I could still code, I'd write one.
We're way past the days of the 8.3 filenames. There's no excuse for this... "mess", anymore.

Everything computer, should be compatible with everything, and by now I should be able to just talk to my computer.
It should also understand slang.

Like if I was having a computer problem... I should be able to say: "Computer, get your act together", and it should fix itself. :)

And for the hardware, we should return to using backplanes. Every computer component should be on a card, that plugs into the backplane. It's 2021 and still we have to be concerned with with this vid card, or motherboard, etc., "fit" into the case.

Software should be similar... there should be ONE operating system, and everything else should be plugins.

We need... communist computers. :D

There should be standardized cables for everything. What we have now is just plain stoopid.
There's 4-5 cables just hook a monitor to my computer. I can't even count how many different power cables there are.
Cameras, webcams, mics, smartphones, everything should have the same connectors.

Everything should run on the same voltage and amperage. If the device needs less, then the manufacturer should be required to step it down, internally.

Even the batteries are ridiculous. There must be 100 different kinds, for minor electronic devices.

If things keep going the way they are, pretty soon we'll need a different computer or smartphone for the week and the weekend, or for each day of the week. LOL

I don't want to stifle inventiveness, but all these new ideas should stay in the labs until they are compatible with everything else.
The way it is now, someone gets a new, good idea, and poof, we have a new product on the market with a different OS, connectors, cables, batteries, cases, protectors, etc.

I have no problems with different products for different tasks, but they should still all be compatible.

/edit

Just a teeny example... [Mouser Electronics] I typed: Cables in the search box.
And the really ridiculous part... they're all just wire. ^^

Given that people don't get on with each other, and life seems to be nearly all friction, with very little function. Nothing will happen differently to the headache you've described quite well.

Doesn't mean we shouldn't try to attain wireless everything, including monitors. Don't what can be done about power cords.
