The JDK is only needed to develop apps that use Java.

I know, but Xiaomi tools/apps require it.

Thanks.
What is it telling you to install? And on what device are you using it on? And to do what?

I would just use Revo .. you don't need Java.

Are you trying to do something with Android devices you're going to attach to your PC? If that's what you're trying to do and you this toolkit needs Java, it's OK to install, recognizing that a rogue Java app on your PC *might* cause problems. If you're trying to run a Java program, normally you don't need the SDK, just the runtime environment.

Your link is pointing to an old version of Java.

Correct, would be attaching the Andriod devices to the laptop. Not installing java into browsers but installing this https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/javase/jdk17-archive-downloads.html is a prerequisite to run them.

Thanks.

What you need in order to root (etc) an Android device are the SDK Platform Tools. Here's a direct link: https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip

Please don't get into this stuff unless you're absolutely sure what you're doing. Ending up with a bricked phone is no fun. There's tons of information on the XDA forums: How to Root your Android smartphone — quick and easy-to-follow steps

I know about XDA and not rooting, just removing bloat. Xiaomi tools requires it to run like to run a bat file.

Thanks.

Oh yes, I did. Spent a lot of time tinkering with Android. Back in the old days I used to root my phones, in order to remove bloatware, install custom ROMs, use AdBlock, and customize just about anything I could think of. Not anymore though, no need for it al all with current Google Pixel phones.

Thanks.
