  • Bug fixes included.
  • New Program Support added.
Known Issues
  • After installing the AMD Chipset Installer version “7.xx.xx.xx”, users cannot install version “6.xx.xx.xx” or earlier.
    Workaround:
    • Un-install the AMD Chipset installer version 7.xx.xx.xx or newer.
    • Delete the “Qt_Dependencies” folder located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD\Chipset_Software\".
    • Install AMD Chipset installer version 6.xx.xx.xx or older.
  • On a non-English OS, some driver names may appear in English. 
  • Occasionally, Ryzen PPKG may not install or upgrade.
  • Yellow bang on AMS Mailbox driver on the AMD Ryzen™ Threadripper™ 9000 Series Processors [AMD WRX90] on Win10 OS.

Neither did I. I always pick and choose drivers according to need. I always keep several driver versions in case of need to return to them. Together with regular backups, I think it keeps me safe and system in full and best function and performance.

I just used the auto detect tool on a clean install on an amd laptop and it found driver updates, chipset drivers, updates, etc. It found everything.

When I ran this automatic updater the first time, the dialog box was populated with 7-8 driver buttons, all checked, half with tooltips stating they would downgrade the installed drivers, with one driver to be updated. As I said in my OP, the dialog looked the same as the dedicated chipset driver installer. I was going to screenshot it, but as I wrote in a follow-up post, it errored out after I used the dedicated chipset driver installer, perhaps because it didn't find a driver needing an update. In any case, the automatic updater was the wrong program to update my B550 drivers. The point of my post was to warn people not to click the big, easy button at the top but to go to the bottom of the page and navigate to the section for your specific chipset. Again, I don't know how I ended up downloading the automatic updater this time. Per the Explorer screenshot I posted, the six previous times I did this over the last 2.5+ years, I downloaded the dedicated chipset installer.

You'd think an IT company like that should have best sites but none of them seem to care or are geared toward professionals rather than general users. Haven't seen any really friendly sites, specially HW manufacturers. BIOS versions for instance, have to dig deep, much deeper than average person could/would to find fine details about particular version and it's change log although BIOS is crucial for operation. It can make or break any system if not properly adjusted. AMD uses A.G.E.S.A. code to make/change CPU and BIOS behavior thru micro code but finding details is better left to archeologists. Dig, dig, dig.......

Well I just found out that apparently AMD recommends on that site (and I missed it) that for laptops to use only the drivers and chipset drivers from the oem instead of updating to their latest versions. So I will be doing that.

That is because while the drivers themselves are closed source and can not be altered by the OEM's, they can and and quite often do use different INF files (from the default AMD one that comes with the drivers) to enable or disable certain features in the driver.

thats what I thought as well, but when I ran the auto detect tool thing it packaged the video and chipset under that adrenaline software tag so I dont know ha.

I use Windows Update for my 2021 and 2024 Acer laptops for graphics and software and use the AMD site for chipset. Used to be issues with downloading desktop drivers and AMD software for the laptops - to get latest versions - but that's history for me now. I simply don't use desktop drivers any more.

WU drivers usually behind the times though 🤷‍♂️

Interesting. As of right now, and this may be a localized / temporary issue, attempting to search the AMD database for drivers, both chipset-specific and processor-specific, is doing absolutely nothing, @Brink.

I'll try again in a few minutes to see if that fixes the issue - but drivers from other sites are having no issues.

EDIT: Link won't load in Arc, Edge, but will load in Firefox and Chrome, however, only the older driver package is still showing:
