We now know the trade in offers that will be available to those with older V8, v7, and v6 one-time licences, and for recently purchased perpetual v8 licences.

If you purchased on or after July 1st, 2024, you have three options;
  • Continue using Reflect 8 for as long as you want. You will continue to have access to 12 months technical support from the date you bought the licenses.
  • Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year of support from the date of purchase) and receive a 3-year Annual Plan at no extra cost. Macrium may make loyalty offers available at the end of your 3-year term. However, even without a license, Reflect always allows you to restore/recover your data (you won’t be able to make new backups). We’ve also made your backup files open-source - it’s your data and you own it.
  • NEW: Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year support from the date of purchase) and receive 50% off the normal annual plan price for life (must turn on auto-renew and not allow the license to expire/lapse).
Home users have 6 months from the launch of Reflect X to decide which option suits them best. Step-by-step instructions to obtain either option from the grace period will be published this week.

For Reflect Home users who purchased V8 before July 1, 2024:
You are eligible for two options. The first option is 50% off Annual plans for life. Option 2 is our “Better than Black Friday 2024 Offer:” 3 years for the price of 2:

If you choose 50% off annual plans for life, you will have to trade in your current Reflect Home V8 license.

If you choose 3 years for the price of 2, you can keep your Reflect Home V8 license. This amount must be paid up front and at the end of the plan, customers may renew based on offers available at the time (or return to your one-time license.)

For Home V6 & V7: We are offering 3 years for the price of two. This amount must be paid up front and at the end of the plan, customers may renew based on offers available at the time (or return to your one-time license.)This offer ends March 31st 2025.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

I disagree - there might be some bug fixes that impact the boot drive. It only takes a couple of minutes to update.

I always keep previous iso on onedrive as a precaution.

Doubt it since I got it yesterday.
I used the ReflectUpdater.exe on both systems though, I did not try via the main Reflect program.
Missed the erroneous version in the post.

Question for those that upgrade to Reflect X, does version 8843 include or will include, if you create a new rescue USB, the new boot files SVN 8.0 required for it to work? Or you still need to update those manually? Nevermind... I should learn to read... it does.
Oh... another one: Does this version has issues trying to mount backup images using the rescue media? Or any problem at all with newest Windows versions?

Reflect X does not have any issues mounting backup images so you can browse them.

That recent issue, since the psmounterex.sys driver was added to Microsoft's vulnerable driver block list, only affects Reflect 8 (and earlier).

psmounterex.sys is not used within Version X (10), this is why you would be able to mount images using vX.
This issue will only affect Version 8.1 users who have applied the latest Windows 11 update (KB5083769)
We are continuing to investigate this further and will provide updates as more information becomes available

Sadly, I'll have to bite the bullet and give some money to Macrium with version X... I had this same version, and the driver is being blocked everywhere. Apparently Microsoft blocked the entire driver without taking into account that older version was vulnerable, whereas the patched is not... they just went for broke and blocked the entire thing instead of just blocking the unpatched one...

We wait to see if Macrium releases a new patch, until then there are several workarounds in this thread: Overwhelmed - Macrium Reflect in particular Garlin's post #72. My own workaround (booting to an older rescue media to browse an image) is in post #98.

There's some hope that Macrium are working on a fix....

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

Macrium is offering their "deal" on upgrading to X. I made the leap. ( Their trade in offer includes trading in V7 licenses, which is what I did, and I think V6 as it is mentioned in their update instruction.) If upgrading software from 8.1 it is done as an in place upgrade meaning definitions, network and email settings all migrate. Worked on four devices.

Thanks. Good to be supported again and as I understand it I can mount images.

The true test of speed will be my data drive over the network. Speed is nice but as the vast majority are automated at night I really won't notice the change.

Some of my backup sets are now mixed, half a month on 8.1 with incrementals from X. Not sure if that is a good idea.

That's not a problem. Reflect X can restore a v8 .mrimg backup set and, if the set was created by v8, will continue to add Differentials/Incrementals using the old v8 .mrimg format.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.
