Macrium Reflect v10

I have been using Paragon Hard Disk Manager 16 for many years and have been very satisfied with it. (I hate v17 though.)
Has any brother here used Paragon before, and how does it compare to Macrium?
Trying to be motivated to switch to Macrium if can find a good reason. Many thanks.

Suggest a search of this forum for Paragon Hard Disk Manager and see if there are any comparisons. Then post what you do not like about v17, anything that you feel is missing, or improvements/features you would like to have. If v16 works reliably and does everything you need then speed might be the only improvement, but could that justify a subscription product?

OK, went to the MR page and they want $100 for a 4-pack for one year. That amounts to $25 per system per year for support and upgrades.

When I upgraded from v7, it was also $100 for a 4-pack -- but that was a PERMANENT license, and since I got three years of that (so far), I not only got usage for years two and three, I also got updates and support.

In this new case, you get support and updates for only one year, so you have to buy the 4-pack again next year to get another year of updates and support, and the same for year three.

That means they have basically TRIPLED their price -- and more, if the price goes up in future years.

Yeah, I will not be upgrading to X , they just lost a customer with their new pricing model. I will stay on 8 as long as I can then switch to something else. I would pay for an upgrade if they offered a perpetual license but I will not pay for a subscription because all you are essentially paying for is for them to fix the bugs they originally missed it's not like you will be receiving new features.
It takes me about twenty minutes or less to recover and be up and running from an image now with 8 ... I don't HAVE to do it any faster or pay more to do it faster, it's just plain greed.

I'm sure you'll get new features and updates as they become avaialble. Even with a perpetual licence you were getting fixes and upgrades that you paid for.

Maybe, maybe not, but you are still paying more for it over three years than you ever would have with a perpetual license. That is what no one is seeing, everyone is just fine with them just reaching into their pockets and just taking money. Do the math people, you'll be paying close to $100 more for the product as a subscription over three years then you would ever had with a perpetual license.
Take that money and burn it , at least THEN it would be doing something for you by keeping you warm.

I own 5 licenses for version 8. My offer is approx $250 for 3 years for all 5 (approx $17/yr each). The issue I have is that there is no compelling reason to upgrade. While I admit that I prefer to have the newest version of most important software, the biggest difference between 8 and X seems to be speed. And since all my systems are pretty high end, I don't notice any impact when creating images. The other improvements or new features seem to be relatively minor (at least to me).

I have 90 days to decide and I haven't completely ruled it out yet, but at this point I don't believe I'll be upgrading. If it wasn't a subscription model that would be different, but it is.

OK, so they want $250 for five licenses for three years. That amounts to $50 per machine for three years, not one year.

For v8, I paid $25 per machine for three years (so far).

So, even with the discounted three-year licenses, that's still DOUBLING the price.

I'm retired so my income does not change much, but from what I've heard from folks still working full-time, none of them have had their income DOUBLE over the last three years, and in fact, none of them have even had it increase 50%.

So, as someone has already said, this is just plain greed.

Actually over three years my licence will cost £57, about the same as a perpetual licence was in 2021.
I don't see the problem here, if you and other people don't want the Macrium sub then don't get it.

This post borders on trolling to be honest. Macrium is the most useful software I own.

I had a perpetual license of Macrium Home that I purchased several years ago. A few days ago I purchased a new perpetual license to replace that existing license to prepare for the Macrium X rollout. Based on the upgrade info I looked at on the Macrium website I have 6 months to decide whether I am going to take advantage of any of the upgrade offers and which to choose. If I decide to choose the 3 year annual plan at no charge option when does the clock start? Is it when I pull the trigger on the offer, so approximately 6 months from now, or is it when I purchased the perpetual license that I am upgrading? I haven’t been able to find a definitive answer.

I did the same as you, bought a new licence this year on 30th September, in addition to the 4-pack I've had for years. I 'pulled the trigger' as soon as Reflect X was available. Although it is free to trade in, you will still be asked for your card details (so they can start billing you on the 3-year renewal date). You can see from the details in my Macrium Account that the 3-year plan starts the day you trade in your v8 licence, 2024-10-08 in my case.

Thanks for that info, exactly what I needed. Since I’m perfectly happy with v8 I’ll wait till just a few days before my 6 month window runs out to pull the trigger on the upgrade.

No one is trolling here , been a member here on 11 forums for quite some time and a member of Windows forums period for even longer and maybe I don't post a lot but when I do it is usually with substance and I never said Macrium wasn't good software because it is but the upgrade doesn't justify the price increase in the software they are asking for.

NOW , while some of you MAY be getting deals on the upgrade by buying three and four packs , per computer the end MAY justify the means. However, I would be purchasing for ONE computer and even with the 33% discount they are offering it is STILL more than I paid for V7 and is STILL around $50 more than I paid for the V8 upgrade over three years, so in MY case the end does not justify the means.

Now If there was some big GUI changes or something else worth the price increase I MAY have thought about it , but to just image and recover my system a little bit faster does not warrant what they are asking for it , Like I said , I can image my system now in about thirty minutes or less and can recover it and be back up in running in about twenty or less, I don't need to do it any faster than that and is certainly not worth the $50 price increase ..... FOR ME
Some of us ARE on a budget and need to watch what we spend .

So yeah, Macrium can take their greed and stick it where the sun doesn't shine because while most here are singing the upgrades praises they WILL lose customer base from those like me due to that greed.

I was contemplating upgrading until I saw this from Paramount Software's Macrium X webpage:

Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year support from the date of purchase) and receive a 3-year Annual Plan at no extra cost. Macrium may make loyalty offers available at the end of your 3-year term. However, even without a license, Reflect always allows you to restore/recover your data (you won’t be able to make new backups). We’ve also made your backup files open-source - it’s your data and you own it.

Now, the underlined, bold portion (my emphasis) kind of makes it seem like if you let your license expire, you can't make backups any longer. I can still make backups with my expired Macrium 8. This one sentence is keeping me from upgrading, or am I misunderstanding something?

That how leases work. In fact allowing you to still restore is a concession but in the end that is worth diddly squat as most people make a new backup monthly or so.

After a few months, why would you want to restore an old backup - time has moved on!
