What is the point of RAM boost. Empty RAM is not of any use.

Normally yes but there could be and often happens "Memory leak" caused by some lousy SW or some drivers. They don't release memory after they are closed or memory they don't use. Last cases I remember were Intel network drivers and game GTA V until a patch for it.

Indeed and in C/C++, memory cleanup is done thru destructors.
Failure to use them in your code results in allocated memory that can't be used as CountMike rightly stated.
Basic stuff for a developper; clean up after you are done!

I can download the public beta from MS, but installation stops at 32% saying

I logged on as admin and it downloaded fine. It's useless!

I have a modified hosts file and it was not altered when I just installed it and ran everything (22623.1245). My hosts file is marked as modified 2023-01-21 but I don't know by what nor can I see any changes.

MS PC Manager shows updates to Windows but Windows Update says there are none. Also claims there are Intel updates. Intel's Update Assistant says there are none either... Go figure. Something wrong with this program .... "TechQuickie" (Linus Sebastian of Linus Tech Tips) says Windows comes with built-in tools and shows this program in the video. Even thought this is seperate program and not "built-in"

I quit using programs like that latest with W7 and some even with XP because some like Advanced System Care and PC mechanic were pure snake oil and others like Ccleaner practically useless as W10 and W11 already have enough tools to do same things.
Instead I use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall SW and clean up leftovers from disk and registry. Even when my disk space ceased to be at premium (since with W7 start, I just get larger disk) I still like to keep system disk as clean as possible in order for it to be as small as possible for comfortable work and to have faster and smaller backup of it. As some help I use small. fast and safe program UnCleaner every now and than which cleans up additional up to 1GB and more of junk no other programs find and clean.
To keep custom settings which windows change to defaults after larger updates, I use Winaero Tweaker's saved settings to restore them in less than a minute plus a reboot.
Those plus Macrium Reflect are only things I need to keep windows, disks and files squeaky clean and safe.

My 5 cents adjusted for inflation.

I found the program on Major Geeks. Unfortunately, the creators website is now defunked, so no new updates I guess. Development seemed to stop in 2012, with support up to Windows 8.

Seems like a really well thought-out peice of software. R.I.P JoshCellSoftwares

I was using the beta version and installed the release version 3.3.14.0 . It seems to function like the beta except with one really annoying fault. I do not want to use a desktop icon for this whether I load it at startup or not.It insists on putting one on the desktop whether its run at start up or not and it resists any and all attempts to stop it.

Gave it a shot on my Windows 11 Pro Desktop & Gaming Laptop for a few days, then decided i didn't really need it so uninstalled it.

No idea if it changed anything in Hosts file as i didn't check that yet, though normally i do not edit hosts file at all
