MS Teams Chat version and Work/School Version W10/W11

If you download the MS Teams app in Windows 10 (assuming it is not installed), it installs ok, and you can run the free version (used to be called Chat) or the full works/school version by signing in and out.

As far as I can tell you can only run one at a time.

Windows 11 works differently - you download the app and install it, and it initially it only allows you to run the work/school version. You have to press the Teams for personal use link.

The difference with Windows 11 is you can have open one or other without flip flopping logins (a real pain if you have two factor authentication). You can even have both open at same time, but audio/visual can only be active on one at a time.

However, I discovered if you keep the download file, and create a shortcut to it, it fires up the free version!!!
So the download file acts as an installer the first time you use it, then like a portable version for the free version next time you use it. So you do not have to fire up the works Teams to run personal Teams.

I tried to create a shortcut in Windows 10, but it just reinstalls each time. I even tried to use the W11 downloader in W10, and it installed fine but did not exhibit the "portable" property.

So this difference in behaviour must be a function of the OS - the same installer (bizarrely) works differently in W10 and W11.
