I am having a strange issue, when i look in taskmanager there are about 15 cmd processes running. Then when I close task manager it stops responding and hangs.

I have ran defender and UVK and nothing malicious was found. I also deleted temp files in appdata.

Thanks.

I go with Process Explorer to find out what each those cmd.exe processes are.

This guide explains how to use Process Explorer, to spot malicious software running on a computer.

@Spunk
Autoruns will only tell what programs/services start up when you boot the PC. Good for checking if malware is loading at boot though. You should also check Task Scheduler for start ups and for programs/services that are set to run at certain times.

@Dante
What you need to use is Process Explorer (procexp64.exe) and/or Process Monitor (Procmon64.exe) from the Microsoft Sysinternals Suite.

If your PC is 32bit, then you can run the 32bit versions of each of the above.

Use these programs to monitor the processes running on your machine. Process Monitor will give you more detail in real time about the processes running on your machine and what they are doing while Process Explorer will show you the resources consumed by those processes.

That can be good to know if these CMD processes are using a lot of resources, it can help zero in and kill the relevant processes that are using the most resources.

@FreeBooter
You beat me to it .... lol
