Same, as I say it seems to be crashing/reloading explorer repeatedly... as I understand it, it's been happening to those who upgraded to the latest Windows 11 build.

I am unsure what you mean by latest build you probably mean stabble version.
I can assure you that EP works well on the latest Beta build 22623.1037 ,
and the latest Dev build 25267.

Hi,
Seems to work fine atm
I recently upgraded to 22h2 mounting it from win-10 then up to current build
No insider/ developer crap 11 builds for me though I stick with mainstream releases.

What ya mean? Mines working fine on my system on 22621.963
Same here, on 22621.963 also.

The only small bug I noticed was that (very) occasionally a maximized window (be it an UWP app e.g. Windows Mail app or a desktop app e.g. portable Firefox) extends part behind the Win 10 taskbar at the bottom. Each time when this happened the window bottom edge in question was visible through the taskbar that I made semi translucent with TranslucentTB (UWP app from the Microsoft Store, latest version).

For anyone who might be looking to reproduce this bug, simply rebooting works as a temporary fix. I have my Win 10 taskbar height set to small (single row and using small icons to reduce the taskbar height to the smallest height possible). In Windows Settings | Display, I have selected the option to Show only on 2, the scaling is at 150%, resolution is 3840x2160. I have a feeling that the issue only occurs after I turn the TV off/on with the laptop on, but it doesn't always occur each time when I do that. It's a Sony Bravia XR 55X90J that's plugged directly into the laptop's HDMI (Intel Iris Xe with no dedicated GPU). Just for the sake of completeness, I'll also note that eARC on the TV is active and is hooked up to my Emotiva prepro although Win 11 audio output is set to USB so HDMI audio is idle. With the laptop on, turning this TV on causes the desktop UI elements to be maligned for a sec or two so. As we've previously (re)discussed, flaky Microsoft is flaky. Or maybe I've been Sony'd...🤣

Yeah, same here. I can get it installed, finally, but can't get it to do anything.
Hi,
Might describe or show which settings are responding ?
These seem to do what they're supposed to do if restart explorer is used :/
Only way beside screen shots I can easily post the info I use
You could save as reg file and import it in EP if you want ?

I was hopen valinet fix the EP's explorer crash and not start at all ,as I use couple features in EP that is not in StartAllBack version 3.5.6 for my workflow, I would rather pay the 5 bucks for EP over StartAllBack, but right now EP will not work on the beta channel version of Windows with the explorer crash and not restart leaving my montators with black screen.

Here's how the bug (see my previous post) looks like with Paint 3D maximized. I just found out that restarting explorer also works as a temporary fix, although I could have sworn that this method didn't work last time... rebooting did.

Valinet has said that he will never waste time trying to make it work on beta channel versions of Windows so, basically, you have four choices:
  1. Use it on the production channel instead
  2. Just pray that it works on the beta channel
  3. Don't ever use it
  4. Find another way for making it work on beta

Might have to give up on this. Users now finding that after they log on, it's "flashing white", basically explorer being loaded over and over until EP is uninstalled.

Sadly it's overall added more hassle and frustration for everyone than just accepting they need to learn a new Explorer UI.
Same here with 22H2 22621.936 :(

For the last few insider builds I had the blank screen (latest is 25267) and it took me a while to even consider that the problem was EP. I use EP to allow me to have a triple row taskbar and I am fed up with Microsoft not fixing their problem but I'm even more fed up with them breaking third party software. I'm also saddened by people who complain about software like EP where somebody has put in the work to produce the application and then given it to us for nothing. Thank you Valinet. I hope you will be able to sort out a fix for the most recent insider builds. In the meantime, as I need EP, I will kick the latest insider build off and go back to the version that works with EP.

Hi, I'm a new user, hello to all. I have the same problem after installing the big important update 22H2 build 22621.963. The screen started flashing. Applications on the taskbar do not load. The mouse wheel always spins. I have my pc locked down.

Uninstalling "explorer patcher" solved the problem. I reinstalled and again same problem. Maybe we have to wait for an EP update?

When using large taskbar icons and having the search box display on the taskbar, on Windows 10 version 21H2, the task view button will disappear whenever you hover over it, or any other item that's on the taskbar. The functionality also goes - clicking that area does nothing when this glitch occurs. Sometimes, clicking the start button will bring it back, but not always. It only happens when the search box is visible; if just the icon is visible, this never happens.

Anyone else having this issue?

Hi Juan,
I know it will not help you but I m running the versions below and have not experienced those issues.
Look thru this thread and look for uninstalling completely ExplorerPatcher.
Once fully uninstalled, restart your PC and re-install Explorer patcher.

Yup. Uninstall/reinstall ExplorerPatcher has helped me in the past to getting it fixed. But there are still some bugs in Windows 11 that can potentially also affect ExplorerPatcher. So, if uninstalling/reinstalling ExplorerPatcher doesn't fix your problems, and sfc /scannow doesn't report errors, then uninstall ExplorerPatcher first. Reboot after. Next, try this:
Finally, you should be able to install ExplorerPatcher and problems should be gone until the next time when Windows Update breaks more stuff.

What does "locked down" mean?
EP works here with 22621.963 and no flashing.
Thanks everyone for the advice. You have been very kind. I'll do some tests and let you know.
By "pc locked" I mean that I can't do anything.

Edit:
I tried this guide to do a clean install:

1. Make a backup of your ep settings and uninstall it.
2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SystemApps\ShellExperienceHost...* and delete everything in it. You will need to kill the StartMenuExperienceHost.exe in order to do so. At the end only 2 folders will remain as they are protected by TrustedInstaller.
3. Run sfc /scannow command. Everything under C:\Windows\SystemApps\ShellExperienceHost should be restored and you start menu should be working now.
4. Make a backup of the ShellExperienceHost folder on your desktop or documents.
5. Reinstall ep patcher. This should brick your menu again.
6. Go back to C:\Windows\SystemApps\ShellExperienceHost...* and restore the start menu from your backup. You will need to kill StartMenuExperienceHost.exe again.
7. Open explorer patcher and restart file explorer

but I'm stopped at point 6 because the pc flashes and I can't open any folder. I can't click!

I installed startallback and for the moment I use this.

@Juan,

If Explorerpatcher is preventing you from using your computer, these are the steps to take.
After your login, and between the flashes, press CTRL Alt DEL (at the same time)
Choose Task Manager
Select in the top left menu, Run new task
1- Type in cmd (press enter)
2- Type in cd c:\ (press enter)
3- Type in cd %ProgramFiles%\ExplorerPatcher (press enter)
4- Type in cp ep_setup.exe ep_uninstall.exe (press enter)
5- Type in ep_uninstall.exe (press enter)

This will give you back control of your system.
