New win 11 build


Hi Guys, just ran into a problem. The case fan has a 3-pin connector but the B 450 Tomahawk board has only 4-pin heads. The fan connector doesn't fit anywhere. What am I supposed to do?
Never mind, got it! Stupid is as stupid does. :eek1:

Some case fans can use either the 4-pin or a 3-pin port on the motherboard. Check the plug on the fan's cable, may be indexed so as to slide onto the opposing pins, has 2 ears to orient properly..

If you don't have an electronic store locally, try searching for 3 pin to 4 pin fan adapters.

The OP has already dealt with it, but for future reference:

Every 4 pin header I have seen accepts a 3 pin fan plug. The headers are keyed so that it's only possible to insert a 3 pin plug using the proper pins.

I prefer the 4 pin PWM fans, though.

Sympathy....much sympathy. Give that old PC to me, and in 24 hours I can have it running like a brand new 2022 machine., And running Windows 11 to boot.
I'd max out the ram, then install a 500GB Crucial SSD and then install my own favorite version of Win-11 and tweak it out for top performance.

You'd feel like you just witnessed the Second Coming. But then you probably live too far away.

I currently have three OLD PC's running Win-11, like they've never run before.

You just can't get there from here....you have to go somewhere else to start. :ROFLMAO:
