WMP... Uncheck that box that says "Retrieve additional information from the internet" found in Options > Library
I learned a while back that will rename files and alter tags and more often than not, it gets them wrong. On a new install I always make sure to uncheck that box before allowing WMP to add my music to the library.

Anyway, I cleared WMP Library, disabled WMP altogether, re-installed foobar..., all good! :shush:

I just remembered something...,
With QTTabBar, you don't even need an app to play media! With 'Preview' enabled, simply hover on a file...

000440.png

... press period on the numerical keypad, (with NumLock enabled)...,
presto, QTTabBar will utilize Windows' internal preview engine and play the file full screen!

Wow!! My entire music collection is maybe 60-70 songs on my computer and 10 or 12 CD's. My taste in music is very selective. I like soft rock, pop, smooth jazz, latin rhythms. My collection mostly consists of Beatles, McCartney solo stuff, Eagles, BeeGees, Santana, CSNY, and things like that. One of my favorite pieces of music is the big band classic Sing,Sing,Sing by the Benny Goodman Band with the driving drum beat and great solo by Gene Krupa and the incredible high note Goodman hits on the clarinet. I'm not that much into music any more though. I might play some like once a month or so. I don't care for hard rock and hate Metal and Rap. I'm a 73 year old geezer though.
The best speaker system I have is the Logitech 2.1 set hooked up to my main computer. The 2 TV's just use their built in ones. The other day I started to think about what I had on my stereo system and then I realized I don't even have one.

I've been collecting music since the mid 70's. Don't have my album collection I did back then cause when I joined the Air Force, I had a "friend" hold onto my albums until I could get them. Needless to say, they all disappeared. Was able to get most of it back through album or CD finds.

I still collect both vinyl and CD's though; just become even more selective since I'm trying to reduce their physical presence. I still prefer to buy CD's (and vinyl) and rip myself for better sound quality. Don't like mp3's since they tend to sound flat to me. Nothing in my collection is "internet downloaded" music. All from physical media - whether from vinyl or CD.

Anyway, I now mostly focus on early 70's rock, jazz / jazz rock, R&B, and disco (my high school years were in the disco era). God willing I'll be 63 in 15 days. And I hope to get where you are @73 :)
