I don't see anything new except perhaps the mini-player controls got enhanced when you stretch the player open a bit...

... instead of just seeing a Pause button...

Compared to Groove Music, this does some odd things with my music library, it will list the same artist multiple times. Groove listed as expected. Then I remove my music folder, reselect and then it will list different artists multiple times. I have checked the file tags, and nothing seems strange. What seems to be happening is the albums are being listed by file type, i.e. all mp3 albums will be listed, then the artist is duplicated and the wma files are shown, and then flac. This is idiotic

I thought the audio sounded better than the old WMP and Groove Music

Here I was, searching the store. It helps if I read an entire message or article. I kept missing the download link. I loved Groove, but Winamp beat it out. I'll see how the new music player is. Thanks for sharing, The-Hive!

MP3s are a little clearer on the new Windows Media Player - almost tinny, though. With similar EQ settings, Winamp seems to have a fuller range and less tinny sound. Plus, WMP is kind of, well, ugly. And boring. You also have limited ability to view things versus the full view my Winamp skin provides. See the differences below.

Still prefer WINAMP any day -- VLC is also pretty good. Winamp also allows ripping of CD's for those that still have any, and has a built in API to Gracenote for automatic CD recognition and track tagging -- which for things like Classical music is far superior to some of the free online music DB recognition systems.

With the old system, with a flick of the volume wheel, (mouse horizontal scroll button), it's all right there right away!

Yeah, that's a nuisance to have to do every time. I usually keep my Winamp open on a different monitor that I only occasionally use. Also, I have music controls on my keyboard, so I can control from there. Usually, I can reach the forward button without taking my hand off the mouse.

It really depends on your preference and whether VLC suits your purpose. I prefer Winamp. As you can see in my post, #107, it's highly customizable. Also, you can rip CDs using Winamp. I create play lists of my favorite groups or of genres of music I might want to listen to. It also has a great search feature.

I use MPC-BE as default..., however, the New Media Player actually handles video quite well.
