Ah yes, and I didn't take my own advice by searching via the Fast option.

@Wynona:

Do this.

  1. Open this link. Microsoft Store - Generation Project (v1.2.3) [by @rgadguard & mkuba50]
  2. Copy this and paste it there in the search bar on that link: https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/windows-media-player/9WZDNCRFJ3PT?hl=en-us&gl=us
Do not try to open this as a web link / URL - you just need to copy it here and paste it there.
  3. At the far right (just before the check mark), change RP to Fast
  4. Click the check mark at the far right.
  5. Use your browser scroll to find 11.2211.36.0:
    View attachment 48827

You want to find the msixbundle for the version that you're looking for. The BlockMap file is useless, and you can see it is a tiny file, not gonna install anything. Verify for size at the right too.

  6. Click that link for the correct version, download, then run it (sideloading it onto your system).
This method always works, you just have to find the most current version in the list. The search term in step 2 is not version dependent, only application dependent. So that search term will always find the versions of the Media player.

So, when the next version comes out, when someone reports it here, you do all of this again only looking for that new version.

HTH

Using the above method, the latest version is 11.2409.11.0.

I have a strange situation with Media Player on 2 different PC's.
PC 1 was installed with Windows 11 23H2 and later upgraded to 24H2. Media Player works fine and displays all album art/covers on any version of the app.
PC 2 was installed as Win11 24H2, and Media Player refused to display any album art/covers, no matter which version of the app I install.

I recently installed the above-mentioned v1.2505.2.0 of the app on both PCs, and PC 1 works fine, but PC 2 still shows no album artwork/covers.

Have you tried repairing the WMP on PC 2 to see if it solves your problem?

Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Media Player
Then click on the 3 dots to the right, then Advanced then under Reset click on Repair.

I just checked some of the music I've Ripped from CD and saved on my NAS drive. They showed the pictures properly in the default Media Player, the Windows Media Player Legacy and in VLC but the main thing is in having files starting with AlbumArt in the same folder.

Yes, I've tried the Repair, Reset and Uninstall options multiple times on PC 2 with no success in getting media to display album or cover artwork.
The screenshot below is from a few moments ago.

PC 1 & a Win10 laptop will just show any album or cover artwork all the time, while PC2 just gives me this for any media:

Pardon my ignorance but is there a SYNC function in this edition like the Classic Media Player had. I use that often to create USB drives for my car.
