OneDrive ??

I had OneDrive shut off on my other computers, still do ! Now i have the option to disable/remove it just wondering what is your choice ? I usually save my files to another removable drive ! So why should i keep it ?

I don't use it and I remove/disable it when I installed Win 11. Keep in mind this is all a personal choice and YMMV.

I don't want my data floating in the cloud or my computer stuttering during the sync process... I, too have it disabled.
I don't save my photos and data on the same drive as the OS. So there is no reason for me to worry when the Windows OS act up.

I'm using it, and love it. Don't have my main User folder synced auto, thou. Always select what to save and what I have enabled on some system. Also have online-offline backup of some files on Onedrive (offline - not shared by any system, just online).

I have everything on my work Onedrive related to work and everything on my personal OneDrive. Hardly ever use local storage for stuff unless an emergency. It's coped well up until now (touch wood).

I use it along with the Windows Defender Controller folder access for the ability to recover files in case of a Ransomware attack.

Played havoc with some games for a while but I've got all those allowed, now.

I use it as well. Primarily, I have my cell phones setup to automatically back up the camera roll to my OneDrive account.

Also, have a subscription to Office 365, so all of my family members have 1TB of their own OneDrive space. It's what I use for work as well. It's always worked well for me.

I sync my personal stuff with OneDrive. At one point I had everything on G Drive, but I prefer OneDrive while using Windows systems.

Onedrive comes with 5GB free which is still enough for a lot of photos and important documents. It is a handy way to transfer small files from one pc to another without having to carry extrrnal drives (fixed or removable).

On the end, if you do not need it, don't use it.

I find it anusing when people obsess over removing stuff thst saves a few mb only, in the mistaken belief that performance will increase. Maybe a little on an old HDD but on modern SSDs, you could not detect any difference!

I keep all my documents on OneDrive and even store important documents in the personal vault. Photo management can be a bit slow, but it's never let me down.

I wouldn't survive without OneDrive. After cleaning my main personal OD a few days ago, I still have over 180 GB stored there. Everything, over 43,000 files in some 2,500+ folders is shown in File Explorer, yet OD only takes currently just over one GB of disk space.

When I need to / want to reinstall Windows, I do not have to think about my files. When on desktop first time after installation, all those files are there, automatically added to OD folder. No need to backup to external drive, then import back to new installation.

For those users not liking / using OneDrive and wanting to delete it from system, I want to tell that it's time to remove the tinfoil hat. OD is taking a few KBs when not used, removing it does not make your system faster, nor help you to protect from spying, nor does it free any space. Or, to be correct, you can have space for one more short Notepad .txt file in space gained by removing OD. Not more.

Many thanks everyone, i have lot of files that i kept while doing Malware Removal so i'm going to keep them still all separate from everything else. I'm going to leave it off for now ! Thanks gang for your input !

I do the same with my Galaxy S9+. I do occasionally have to turn sync back on. I don't know if it gets turned off when the phone gets an Android update or if something else turns it off.

I use OneDrive and find it very useful. It's nice to be able access my files from any of my devices. I also like that when I take pictures with my Galaxy S9+ the pictures are automatically saved to OneDrive.

Once OneDrive updates to 64-bit, it runs pretty fine and 15GB free should suffice for a realtime backup, considering it comes with file versioning, so it can be useful in case of a ransomware infection or a system failure. Still a real backup solution is recommended. :wink:
