I hear you there. I've been shopping for some studio monitors as well the past month or so. I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface on my windows 11 computer that I use as an input for my bass guitar playing. I'm starting to use some digital plugins, amp and pedal simulators and at present I'm only able to hear the result from a set of headphones plugged into my interface. I'm just about settled on these Kali Audio LP-6 v2's. LP-6 V2 6.5-inch Powered Studio Monitor (Pair) - White - Sweetwater My biggest hold up right now is deskspace. We converted our dining room to an office space and my wife and I both have stuff in here. And I work from home now (3 out of 5 days), so I have work computer stuff here as well as all my personal computing gear and instrument stuff.

Those definitely look like good quality monitors. Of course, the proof is in the hearing. I ran 801 Matrix speakers in my house for five years and spoiled my hearing as a result because now very little compares unless they are very, very uber expensive speakers. Now that I'm retired I don't have a whole lot of moolah to throw around. Anyway, I plugged in these MR4's tonight and they're okay. For the money I really can't complain. I don't need surround in my bed room anyway and the flat sound might allow me to listen on my headphones a bit longer. This is one way I can dodge buying a DAC for my junkie, but dependable, ACER.

So I've been racking my brains trying to think of something I can do to enhance this build. Maybe an i9 14900k integrated graphics | Newegg.ca but that's $800.00.... I guess that is something can do. If I'm made of money... So I'm stuck with this beauty of a PC... I guess I have to live with it. :love:

A road trip to the States from where I live would be more expensive given the fuel cost just to get to the border. Even if it were $519 CA it would be cheaper to pay the $800 to New Egg. A closer look at the specs confirms it's not a chip I would prefer anyway.

Not just gas and the expense of the trip but the exchange rate. The Canadian dollar is at 74 cents. And buy the way I through that i9 up at random and it sure kicked up some dust...

I should have never looked at that i9-10900X. That chip is Win 11 compliant (unlike my 6900K) and it has a maximum of 48 lanes with 256 GB of system RAM. Plus it has greater bandwidth over all. If I were to upgrade my work station I'd probably go with one of these. The drawback is that I'd also have to get a new system board to use it. Bummer. :crys:

    I own too many laptops: A Dell touch screen with Windows 11 and 6 others (not counting the other four laptops I bought for this household.) Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.

I should have never looked at that i9-10900X. That chip is Win 11 compliant (unlike my 6900K) and it has a maximum of 48 lanes with 256 GB of system RAM. Plus it has greater bandwidth over all. Yes BUT! Think of how much fun it'll be building that beast. And the new RAM you'll need because most likely new board will call for DD5 and you'll need at lest 128 GB. Also with this new board you'll need to upgrade the GPU as well. Also you'll need high speed NVME's and yes that is multiple. At least 4 at 4 TB. Now I'm missing something... Give me some time to thing on it. ;-)
