    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

Well, my pc supposedly can't run windows 11 either...no TPM module. The good news is...my MB has a TPM header.

Common reasons include no TPM (Secure Boot), no DirectX 12 support, no GPT, some no UEFI.

Yes.. but it's hard to say when my processor isn't on the list of accepted ones.
No.. it failed but I think it's an error in the health check utility

i7-7700K + Z170. Not supported. Works in VMware on the same machine though.

After spending a couple of hours figuring out what TPM was, where it was located in my BIOS, and ignoring the warning about trashing my computer, yes.

If your CPU is not supported (on the list) then you can't say it is supported. It's not.

Mind you, being supported and being able to run it through a workaround are two ENTIRELY different animals.

Well.. I didn't do anything to work around it. I simply installed Win 11 and it's working with my current processor, AMD Ryzen 3 2200G and there's not been a single issue.

Mine did not pass - yet no indication as to why... Secure Boot is off and booted into legacy mode - although UEFI compatable
So I am going to assume failed test is not hardware related, as I clearly exceed the min requirements...
But would BE NICE if they told you why your PC failed rather then pointing you BUY a New PC

Wow, so sad. Glad I built that new desktop machine a couple months ago. It's the only machine I have that will run Win 11.

Even a laptop with 7th gen Intel i7 with 32GB RAM, WiFi 6, 4 k display, TPM 2, and a fast NVMe SSD are not considered up to the task.

Runs fine on my i5-8400, ASUS Rog Strix B360-G, enabled the TPM thing in BIOS, then all good.

But your installation also won't be supported. If they stick to the CPUs listed, try contacting them for support and see what happens.

Secure Boot needs to be on, not off, according to the information Microsoft has given out.

Same. The machine I built last year is the only one that I can take to 11 with support.

I guarantee, though, that I'll find a way to install it on my older, 6th gen Intel-based Dell laptop. There are already a few good workarounds for lack of TPM and such, and my Dell only has TPM 1.2 (but I haven't seen if it can be upgraded or not).

That is the cutoff, 8th generation Intel CPU. So this is to be expected.

Windows 10 2009 is really 20H2.
MS is changing from the old naming scheme to the new scheme.

2009 means year 2020, 9th month. Like 2004 meant year 2020, 4th month.

The new naming scheme is like this...

20H1 is year 2020 first half, and 20H2 is year 2020 second half.

Now we're on 21H1 or year 2021 first half.
