I bought icecream screen recorder because it’s simple and to be honest, it works like a charm. I don’t know if they make a screen capture software or if screen recorder even does it. I bought it, used it twice to prove something to stardock and it’s just sat there ever since.

I just tested FastStone Capture Custom Scroll. It took me a few tries to work it out.

You have to hold down the Ctrl key and select the outer left and right sides of the area that you want to capture.
It'll scroll all the way to the bottom unless you press the Esc key to stop it. I like the instruction box explaining exactly what to do.

So, in this attached example, I only captured the outer left and right edge of the forum. The blank areas of the forum are not captured.
If you think it sounds like I haven't captured scrolling windows before, you're right.

If you go to the Icecream install folder, there's a quickshot.exe you can create a shortcut for, rather than opening the whole program for a quick capture...

I liked that (from memory) you can draw an area with your mouse and record just that area.

FastStone Video Capture/Editor damn near has all the power Camtasia Studio does!!!
Just maybe not as sophisticated!

I've huge respect for small developers who are passionate about their product and offer it at a decent price!

Hi,
I looked at the options way back when i used sharex and none were for pause/ resume and of course start/ stop I even searched sharex community/ google and came up dry.
So question is did you create the pause option or was it already listed, and you chose the hotkey to use which is funny by the way using shift+ lol

I think Snipping Tool is pretty amazing right now and it works fine for me. I appreciate that the Windows 11 version saves pictures automatically, comes with a decent screen recorder, and has OCR!

On the other hand, even for basic image editing, I'd rather use Paint.net

Hi,
ShareX seems is locked at 30fps might be another reason I stopped using it
OBS 60fps plus other tweaks to control file size
I use this for mostly recording movies/ tv series so 30fps is terrible for that.

Thanks. I thought you must have used something else. Although the features are available in FastStone Capture, I couldn't get them to work at the same time.
