You never learned your lesson and saw the light of day?!? I went to OCS in 2000 and became an aviation maintenance officer. Then I got to do a couple of cruises on targets (USS Constellation and USS Nimitz).

I removed everything from the recommended section and changed the setting so it doesn't repopulate. I also turned off Task view, Widgets and Chat. I do have to admit that I don't remember the order of the changes I made.

While its true that moving the menu to the left side was first it was followed by the installation of Open Shell which brought my W7 menu's back instituting normalization. I have found that by using the shell start button that I can still right click on that area around it and get the stock W11 menu. I also created a task manager icon and placed it on the task bar since MS took the right click on the task bar access away.

We just need to keep bugging MS. If you remember MS said that Win 8 was going to be what it was no matter what we said. It wasn't long before they came out with Win 8.1.

I purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 at the Microsoft Store when it was introduced. It came with Windows 8. I bought "Windows 8 for Dummies" on Kindle. I tried very hard to like Windows 8.

The Windows 8.1 upgrade was a relief.
Windows 10 restored my sanity.
I really do like Windows 11.
I don't need or want any of the add-ons to make W11 look and feel like W10 or W7.

Yes I’m getting used to it and ended up leaving the start menu in the middle. Because have it on two machines. The one with the larger screen it seems easier having it in the middle. The one with the smaller screen, I moved it to the left - then found it confusing having it sometimes on the left and sometimes in the middle when switching machines - so ended up keeping it in the middle on both.

I’m getting used to it and it’s functional - a big change though. There does feel to be a lack of customisation depending on what you’re used to.

I think maybe harder for those young enough to have started out with Windows 10 and got very used to it.

What's strange is how you Brits spell color. :lmao:
It's also a matter of how it should be pronounced. We brits have developed a habit over many years, of an easier, and lazier way . If we spelt it, as pronounced, it should be cullur!

Even one here. " Should"? Isn't that shood. Yet shoulder remains

Modern Fonetic spelling is IMO ridiculous as it's totally dependent on a consistent interpretation of both accent and 'local' dialects, which by definition are very distinct and separate, not to mention variations between different languages. It's a pathetic attempt to dumb down a language and destroy its uniqueness. 'Traditional' English was originally built on a blending of various European languages and the 'correct' spellings largely reflect the origin of the words used, including how they were originally pronounced, i.e. they were spelt phonetically because only a small proportion of the population was literate; but 'modern' pronunciation and changes in usage have continuously corrupted the original. It is what it is, but it is also still constantly changing. :D

I don't need or want any of the add-ons to make W11 look and feel like W10 or W7.
So? If I can use free add-ons to turn W11 into a more productive work environment, then that's what I'll do, and, if a "side effect" of that is that it looks and feels like W10 or W7 in a certain way, then still nothing is lost. I guess it is fair to conclude that I like productivity a lot. I have no idea why some people on the internet seem to want to give the constant impression, that they are more interested in trying to win an argument against other people who like productivity as much as I do and whose type of workflow is negatively impacted by Mickeysoft's decision to be so persistent at trying to harm productivity in a big number of ways─even, if this doesn't apply to your own personal type of workflow in any way. Consider yourself lucky if it doesn't, just like I consider myself lucky for the fact that there are still people willing to provide these add-ons for free and solve prolems with them instead of pretend that problems are nonexistent when prolems aren't affecting you.

If it makes it more productive for YOU, then absolutely! Personally, I've not been any more nor less productive since changing to win 11. However i've seen the word productivity far too many times in the last half hour xD If something isn't affecting someone then they aint gonna notice it(Unless they're active on a forum such as this one). Most of the "problems" ive seen are people throwing toys out the pram because toy A is where toy B used to be and so on.

K, let's cut the bullsh*t!
You like it, you hate it or, you passively accept it..., nobody really cares!
But, let's be honest, the first time you right clicked on the W11 Taskbar and saw only this... don't tell me you didn't say: WTF!?!?!?

I did, but I IMMEDIATELY then said: Well it must be somewhere else, and went and found it.
