Still something weird about colours settings though. Changed back to the original blue windows light theme and the task bar and menu still stayed turquoise :cautious: - from the previous theme.

So this is what the HP Spectre x360 looks like now. Changes were: Pin the programs wanted to menu and task bar and remove unwanted apps. Turn off widgets. Set a theme. Install Windows 7 games. Not my machine but have requisitioned it from the teenager who isn't using it. I'm getting used to it. Only thing I really miss (apart from a start menu) is the live tile for weather.

Finally got colours sorted on the netbook. Themes don't change the taskbar and menu colour on this machine. But setting it to custom, then dark for windows default mode and light for default app mode - then turning on "show accent colour on start and task bar" - THEN selecting a colour! That isn't black. So I now have colour on the task bar and menu. The right click menu menu is now dark which is better than grey

NOW if I select themes, the task bar and menu change accordingly. But only if custom is selected first and dark mode selected for default app mode. Strange as it isn't dark mode at all now with a theme.

As for Paint being all grey - that is sorted as well. It just needed the window opening to max size then there's colour on it. Strange again that when not on max size there's no colour.
What's strange is how you Brits spell color. :lmao:

Both are correct :-) Apparently color is from the latin color - lol. But entered the English language in middle English (medieval English) via the Anglo Norman word colur, which was a version of the old French colour. So there you go - it came from the French.

The late Anglo-Norman colour, which is the standard UK spelling, has been the usual spelling in Britain since the 14th century and was chosen by Dr. Johnson's Dictionary of the English Language (1755) along with other Anglo-Norman spellings such as favour, honour, etc. The Latin spelling color was occasionally used from the 15th century onward, mainly due to Latin influence; it was lemmatized by Webster's American Dictionary of the English Language (1828), along with favor, honor, etc., and is currently the standard US spelling.

In Canada, colour is preferred, but color is not unknown; in Australia, -our endings are the standard, although -or endings had some currency in the past and are still sporadically found in some regions. In New Zealand and South Africa, -our endings are the standard.

So this is what the HP Spectre x360 looks like now.

Nice wallpaper Hazel. I changed the Scale on my x360 to 125% from 150% (System, Display, Scale). This makes the font slightly smaller everywhere, which is fine for my eyesight, but it also allows for 3 rows of entries under Recommended.

Deleted everything I could from the task bar. I don't like the task bar looking like a trash pile at the bottom of my home screen. When Winaero Tweaker offered the ability to revert to Classic Task Bar, I did that. Now, the Open-Shell start button replaces the Windows one and T-Clock Redux replaces the Windows clock. Otherwise, the task bar is pretty much reserved for open apps and looks neat and uncluttered.

My Task Bar is neat and uncluttered. It contains only the apps/programs I want. And I didn't have to add the clutter and overhead of add-on programs to do it. I'm using pure, unadulterated Windows 11 and I love it.

Well, it looks like moving the Taskbar from the center and removing Team Chat from the Taskbar were the big changes by a wide margin for most people. For myself, I have to say I moved the Start Menu and other icons back to the center once I started running RoundedTB. Making the center alignment much easier on my eyes. A change that I think MS should consider, if not for the obvious complaints they would get about copying Apple, again.

I just wish I could increase the size of the taskbar on my 32" monitor.

So in dark mode I can have a blue start menu and blue task bar. But in light mode everything is washed out grey. But in dark mode absolutely everything is dark! Even google. Something not right there. What about middle mode or colour mode!

And even in dark mode with colours set to on - you open paint and everything is grey - the whole page, no contrasting backgrounds anywhere. The only splash of colour and design is control panel! Because it's from Windows 7.
Choose your mode: Custom
Choose your default Windows mode: Dark
Choose your default app mode: Light
Transparency effects: On
Accent color: Manual
In such settings you can have any selected color on the Taskbar and Start Menu.

Thanks. Yes I worked it out now. I selected custom mode - dark for taskbar, light for apps. Then it allows you to change the task bar colour. Confused me thinking you could only have dark or light. Seems strange that taskbar and menu can only change colour of dark mode is selected - but there you go :-)
