fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

If it makes it more productive for YOU, then absolutely! Personally, I've not been any more nor less productive since changing to win 11. However i've seen the word productivity far too many times in the last half hour xD If something isn't affecting someone then they aint gonna notice it(Unless they're active on a forum such as this one). Most of the "problems" ive seen are people throwing toys out the pram because toy A is where toy B used to be and so on.
Well if people aren't going to notice it, then they certainly aren't going to notice an additional page titled "Optional/Advanced" that can be accessed at the bottom of Windows Settings, that can actually even be disabled by default─and optionally be enabled via Group Policy and in the registry─for those who don't need or want it and that gives flexibility back to other people who do notice that flexibility was smashed into tiny pieces of putrid debris. So, the claim of "you can't please everyone" is grasping at straws, as this is really just another clear example of what I like to call willful ignorance.

Not really, Its pleased me but quite clearly seems that it hasn't pleased you. So i dont think im grasping at all. I also wouldn't start calling anyone anything, Theres lots of things i could have said but didn't  Seems pretty flexible to me and lots of others that are enjoying it so far  you're the first person i've seen make several remarks with regards to productivity. So ima say thats a you problem.
Anyway. I hope you have an ultra productive day!

I am afraid you missed my point entirely. This isn't about me. I have no problems with it because I already fixed them. I am a trained software developer so, to me, this was all just another small bump in the road. What I was trying to say is that not everyone whose workflow is negatively impacted by changes in the OS has the capacity to get things fixed within a reasonable timeframe. I know I have, and so I am not complaining about that. Rather, I find it distasteful when someone acts as if everyone else has the capacity to fix these problems or when someone keeps trying to portray that problems don't exist. If I may be so bold to say so Sir, the more you talk, the more it's making you look like you're the one who wants to start calling people something.

Oh im sure there are problems there for sure, Its an OS with millions of lines of code and features, theres bound to be something that isn't quite right yet or the way that it should be. Oh not at all, Im generally a nice person believe it or not xD, Just in general you do get a lot of people who complain at things being different or not working and try starting world war 3 because of it. I think if anyone believed there was 0 issues or problems then that would show naivety/stupidity of said person.
If i came across as annoyed or angry, then my apologies, Not in the slightest :p The way you mentioned productivity, it just read that you were talking about yourself directly or so it did to me thats all :)

You never learned your lesson and saw the light of day?!? I went to OCS in 2000 and became an aviation maintenance officer. Then I got to do a couple of cruises on targets (USS Constellation and USS Nimitz).
Too many rough edges to fit in at OCS (or the wardroom). Passed a kidney stone and ended up on the USS Bainbridge (CGN25). Had a CO there who hated submariners and wrote a special evaluation to keep me from becoming a CPO. It backfired on him big time. 10 were selected that year for EMC, I was #1. Final duty assignment was USS Scott (DDG995). Except for 'A' and "C-7" schools never got orders to anything that wasn't painted black or haze gray.

XD! 100% me, But i just put task manager on my taskbar now, Now its even easier than it used to be!
I felt the menu was unusable - with shut down over the right hand side of the menu box. Until I discovered that right clicking on the start button still brought up the right click menu - and allowed for shut down.

I changed the background from the Bloom to a Fall colors one; the background is usually the first change for me as it is the first thing we see. On the context menu, I've rarely used more than Cut, Copy, Paste, Rename, Delete, and Properties from that menu and if each of us could have an OS where we configured everything the way we'd like it those would be the only commands on my initial context menu with others under Show more commands; always disliked opening a long menu containing a plethora of commands I rarely use.

I'm trying my best to use Win 11 "as is"... I did move the taskbar to the left though...

I also uninstall pretty much every 'extra' feature apart from the calculator - even the Microsoft Store and App Installer, all gone!

With Windows 10, I usually installed:

1: Classic-Shell - to make it more "XP-like"
2: T-Clock - a far, far better taskbar clock
3: Firefox - the best web-browser
4: SumatraPDF - lightweight PDF viewer
5: MediaPlayerClasssicHC - best video-player
6: xmplay - music/mp3 player.

With 11 I'm going to stick with the in-built features (that I haven't blow-away!) and see how I go.

It feels much better that a clean Wind 10 install to me...

Cheers,

Mike.

They didn't do too bad with the interface. My biggest complaint is that they always try to make the UI work for tablets as well as PCs. They need to have a "desktop mode" and a "tablet mode." That would get rid of the 2-3 extra steps required to get to the advanced options, which is what everyone is looking for. Honestly, why have two mouse options screens, when one doesn't have all of the available settings?

It seems to run pretty snappy though.

You gotta create the shortcut for it...

%windir%\explorer.exe shell:AppsFolder\c5e2524a-ea46-4f67-841f-6a9465d9d515_cw5n1h2txyewy!App

... or, just paste the above into a Run box.

Generally, developers just comment out something that is no longer used. This code is still there and active. Leaves one to wonder why.
