Looks like about thirty more tutorials for @Brink though.

The one completely stupid change is that instead of the "All Apps" label on the Start Menu, it will now be called "All".
They should have named it... "Apps" rather than "All", assuming there really is a pressing need to shorten it. LOL

The really scary changes, are the apps added to the... 'absolutely can't uninstall' list. :/

It seems that MS has chosen the exact opposite of the "lean, mean, computing machine" path, for the future.
They were probably all dropped on their heads as children. Repeatedly.

IF this release is being called Moment 5 , then the release on 12 Dec was Moment 4(?).

So why are Microsoft calling the Dec release 'Windows 11 2023 Update 1 Version 23H2'?

Or is this just MS causing (more) confusion? :think:

Not really, most are already written. Almost all these 'Moments' have already been seen in Insider builds, unpinning Copilot, for example.

Ummm no. The quoted author has a mangled sense of English wording.

To comply with EU (EEA whatever) regulations, some inbox apps will be removable in those markets.
(uninstall)-able is not the same as un-(installable) or un-(uninstallable)

Most of these Moments are none events anyway. MS has lost the wow factor, all we have are features removed. The updates Windows 10 initially had were far more interesting/exciting

Edit the JSON file, it's just a set of filter rules for "enabled" or "disabled". AFAIK, Edge is the only one that works right now. I think by Feb 2024 the other promised apps will be supported for uninstallation.

It looks like those items will be uninstallable in the EEA...

Microsoft has published a new blog post which details how Windows 11 will be made compliant with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in the European Economic Area (EEA.) To be compliant, Microsoft has made several changes to the OS, which now allows users to choose between providers and uninstall most in-box apps.

The biggest changes come in the form of the ability to uninstall the Microsoft Edge web browser, as well as remove Bing Search from the Windows Search pane. This joins the already growing list of in-box apps that can be removed by the user, with there now only being a few system apps, such as File Explorer and Phone Link, that cannot be uninstalled.

Additionally, Microsoft is rolling out an update to the Widgets Board that will allow users to turn off the Microsoft News and ads feed, while keeping widgets for those who wish to utilize them. The company describes these changes as specific to Windows 11 PCs in the EEA, so it's unclear if users outside this area will be able to utilize these functions.

I guess we'll need to wait and see if they allow "us" the same privileges.

Yeah right.
With TrustedInstaller rights, edit System32\IntegratedServicesRegionPolicySet.json and swap the "defaultState". Like I said, I don't think all the features are fully baked (probably targeting Moment 5).

Currently, this capability and the ability to uninstall Microsoft Edge is exclusive to Windows 11 PCs running Moment 5 in the European Economic Area (EEA.)
