Windows Media Player

OK, I also tried "open with" and that works too.

So, I guess I should be taken off the list of "I can't do it either"!

Is it all jpg files or just some of your jpg files?

BTW, I will not continue to use WMP because I don't do videos (other than youtube) or music on my computers. It's an interesting program, but not my cuppa tea. And it seems to work as advertised . . . and I haven't installed the update yet.

" Open With to the in-house menu launch..."..........works indeed , opens two seconds and gone , or in slide show ( shows all the pictures )
Made a bibliot. of the picture-album first.
This is no problem .......the problem is ; IN the album /rightclick on a picture, and select "open with" the WMP.
WMP opens with the error and a black screen ( see my first attachment in this forum)

Try using paint to create a new jpg file and see if that works.

Then it looks like some of your .jpg files are corrupted.

If some work and some don't, it's not the app/program, in my NSHO.

I'm starting to think the problem is in the jpg files. My first guess is a Win 11 security setting.

I wouldn't think a setting if some .jpg files work and some don't. And especially if .jpeg files do work (all the time, as far as I can tell from the OP's posts).

This is interesting - it's not a .jpeg/.jpg issue ... I will be speculating if I can't replicate.. so.

I thought I'd replicated, but turns out just not doing it right. But I think pietcorus2 knows what he's doing.

My first guess, as stated above, is that some of his .jpg files are corrupted. I know I've had it happen to me.

As a test, pick one of the .jpg files that doesn't open in WMP and try to open it in the Windows 11's Photos app.

Also try to open it in Paint.

Another thought . . . This one's for everyone.

Could it be that the .jpg file is too large to open in WMP?

Ja. maar... the error is like "Something happened" - I already said Open With works for me .. upload a jpg that you can't open and I'll see if it works my side.

Besides , all these files are opened INSIDE the WMP , one by one in slide-show , but...........opening a picture-file Inside the album goes wrong on most files .............

OK cool! .. can you send me a PM in Dutch of what's happening? - I'm missing some of what you are saying...

Have you tried Turning Windows Media Player on and off (Uninstalling/Reinstalling)? The following instructions are available in Windows 11.

Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Windows Media Player:

Step 1.
Uninstalling the Windows Media Player:
1. Go to Settings, then in the "Find a Setting" box, start to type "Turn Windows features On or Off".
2. Click on "Turn Windows features On or Off".
3. Browse to the Media Features and uncheck the mark in front of Windows Media Player.
4. Restart the computer

Step 2.
Reinstalling the Windows Media Player:
1. Go to Settings, then in the "Find a Setting" box, start to type "Turn Windows features On or Off".
2. Click on "Turn Windows features On or Off".
3. Browse to the Media Features and place a check mark in front of Windows Media Player.
4. Restart the Computer.
