Windows Media Player

" I really do not understand why one would need to open it in WMP "............well its shipped with Win11 , works very fine on 10 , so I thought it has to work , like in 10 , also ..........

Maybe this page from Microsoft will help you determine if you can use WMP anymore for JPEG or JPG. Windows Photos opens them fine and it has an editing program. It sets up like an album for your pics also. Perhaps you might be happy with it.

The media player does open .jpg files.. I've tried it and it works.. it's like a slide show.

So then something must be corupt in his player or with his files. He has already tried a repair install. He has tried sfc. Pietcorus2 have you tried opening your jpg's in a different program to see if they are OK?

Nor do I. I have searched the internet and really there are not a lot of hits for jpg opening in wmp and not a lot of answers other than what he/she has already tried.

I tried Irfan View , works awsome ! Will keep this software , it opens ALL picture-extensies , the ones WMP does not open ( with the error , see my attachment in previous post ) are opened with Irfan View , Photo Viewer , PDVD21 ,etc

Irfanview is a great program. Yes the problem still remians for wmp but I am at a loss on this one I'm afraid. You did try to associate them as a file type for WMP already? Did you open WMP then try to open them from the app or did you try clicking right clicking on the pic to choose to open with WMP, if it was actually even a choice. I wish I could help more. Maybe someone will come along that can figure it out for you. There are many knowledgable people on this forum. Good luck with this and if I find anything else on the subject I will post it here.

Well, WMP does open SOME of the picture-files , but if they are open you can see them for two seconds and then a black screen , is this normal ??
I dot want to remove the WMP ( not yet ) , audio, and film is not the problem , its a fine rip-program also.........

What format is it opening. JPEG IMG GIF JPG or other picture file formats? It would not be normal I think for it to show them for a few seconds then go to a black screen. If it is working fine for your other interests then I would keep it for that. It may also indicate that the player is working fine and is not corrupted.

Yes I supplied the link in my post above.. In that link it does not show the file types as supported. Those are the file formats that you have tried recently or from before when they worked in windows 10? I was meaning the ones that opened recently for a few seconds then went black All formats showed for a few seconds for the pictures in windows 11 or just a few of the formats or just one? You stated that some pictures worked for a few seconds and I am trying to figure out which formats worked for a few seconds.

I assume it is not well supported in WMP as JPG's get better options from a photo app and WMP for audio.

Yes same here. I have never used it for picture formats.

@humbird I thought Groove Music took over, I don't know which one is best, also I still use the old windows photo viewer for just viewing but have many tools for editing as that was my job for many years.

control panel > programs and features > enable or disable windows features

Yes Groove did take over. I haven't used WMP for a very long time. I also use windows photo viewer. I do not do any editing of pics anymore,( really have never even done much editing, now I just keep them to look at. My pictures have been moved to usb and my storage drive. I only use it to look at new photos emailed from my aunt anymore.
