Solved won't shut down or update


I'm signed onto Widows as an administrator, but when I paste your commands into Windows PowerShell, I get

Error: 740
Elevated permissions are required to run DISM.
Use an elevated command prompt to complete these tasks.

What is an elevated command prompt?
sorry for the delay in getting back and happy new year.
please right click on the start menu then on this menu click 'Task Manager'

when Task Manager opens at the top to the right is 'Run new task'
click 'run new task' and in the 'open' box write
cmd
tick 'Create this task with Administrative privileges'
then click 'OK'

this will open the command prompt with full admin rights.
then you can run the commands posted in post #15

I want to reset Windows and ensure that my system is up-to-date. Can someone tell me how?


Are you wanting to perform a

a) reset save files

b) reset remove files

c) custom install

d) clean install


All of the above require the reinstallation of drivers and applications.


Or are you wanting to troubleshoot?

Thank you, thank you to everyone for your kind assistance. Something else broke on my computer--there appeared an infinitely spinning circle, which followed my pointer everywhere on screen, so I decided to bring my computer to the local service shop. After some problems with partitioning my Intel Optane drive, they re-installed Windows.
